2001 Ford Windstar:

The new 2001 Ford Windstar is popular for its generous passenger and cargo room, as well as several thoughtful extras. There is a model designed to suit the requirements of every driver; in fact, six models are available for the year 2001. These are the Windstar LX 3-Door Passenger Van, Windstar LX 4-Door Passenger Van, Windstar SE Sport Passenger Van, Windstar SE Passenger Van, Windstar SEL Passenger Van, and the Windstar Limited Passenger Sedan. Each one builds on the generous base model features.

Standard equipment on the base model Windstar 3-Door Passenger Van includes a 3.8L six-cylinder engine with 200 horsepower and four-speed automatic transmission. Conveniences and luxuries listed are air conditioning, power door locks, dual power mirrors, power windows, an AM/FM stereo with CD player, and a theft deterrent system so you can stop worrying and rest easy at night. The seating capacity is seven passengers with two front bucket seats and a middle and rear bench seat. The base model LX has three doors.

Moving up a notch, the Windstar LX 4-Door Passenger Van adds the convenience of cruise control for highway driving, a remote keyless entry system, and four-door entry. The middle and rear bench seats are mounted on tracks and rollers and are, therefore, adjustable.

The Windstar SE Sport Passenger Van includes automatic climate control with air conditioning and climate controls in the rear to keep everybody comfortable no matter where they are sitting in the vehicle. Instead of a bench seat the second row has buckets seats with a console, and the steering wheel is wrapped in leather. A roof rack has been added, along with rear privacy glass and alloy wheels.

A quick look at the Windstar SE Passenger Van yields the addition of heated power mirrors with “open sliding door” warning strobe light to warn approaching vehicles that the left side sliding door is opened. The Windstar SE features quad bucket seats, six-way driver seat with power lumbar adjustment, power adjustable pedals, and an AM/FM stereo with CD player with rear audio controls so one end of the van doesn’t go deaf (a great “kids in the back” feature!).

Next, the Windstar SEL Passenger Van makes additions such as leather seating, universal garage door opener, automatic headlamps, compass, and the convenience of power sliding rear doors. The passenger seat has been upgraded with six-way power controls with power lumbar adjustment.

Finishing up the Ford Windstar line up, the Windstar Limited Passenger Van takes it all to the limit with wood trim and leather-wrapped steering wheel, in-dash six-disc CD changer, and driver seat and mirror memory. Safety has been increase with the addition of traction control, front side impact air bags, reverse sensing system, and self-sealing tires. Other features include a Travelnote digital memo recorder, perimeter alarm system, heavy-duty battery and cooling, and a trailer wiring harness to boot.
