The tough new 2001
Jeep Wrangler offers up three sturdy models this year, Wrangler
SE, Wrangler Sport, and Wrangler Sahara. Each model has two-door
entry and a seating capacity of four passengers, handling
just as well on urban streets as it does driving down the
dirt roads on the way to the cottage.
Under the hood,
the Jeep Wrangler SE sports a four-cylinder engine with right
side camshaft and 120 horsepower. The Wrangler Sport and Wrangler
Sahara models beef it up a little with a six-cylinder engine
and 190 horsepower for excellent highway driving and merging
into fast-paced traffic.
Standard transmission
is five-speed manual, with automatic transmission available
as an option. Drive type is four-wheel on-demand to power
through tough road conditions, and each model is equipped
with all-terrain radial tires for negotiating tough conditions.
The Jeep Wrangler
covers all the basics with its safety features, which include
a driver depowered air bag, pasenger depowered air bag, and
front head restraints. ABS brakes are available as an option
for maximum control while braking suddenly or while stopping
on slippery terrain.
Front fog lights
come standard on the Jeep Wrangler Sahara to pierce through
adverse visibility conditions. For the safety of children
and passengers of smaller stature, a passenger air bag cut-off
capability has been integrated into each model.
Luxuries and options
in the Jeep Wrangler Sport Utility line up include air conditioning,
cruise/speed control, limited slip differential and a convenient
folding rear seat to accommodate extra luggage and equipment.
Other amenities listed are an AM/FM stereo with CD player
for the enjoyment of all passengers, and a theft deterrent
system for peace of mind while away from the vehicle.
