The new 2001 Toyota
Sequoia is introduced this year with four models, Sequoia
SR5, Sequoia SR5 4WD, Sequoia Limited, and Sequoia Limited
4WD. Each model has a notable seating capacity of eight passengers
in three rows of seats with three-point seatbelts.
This is the largest
vehicle Toyota has designed, and is backed with its usual
reputation for high quality, longevity, and excellent resale
value.
Under the hood,
each Toyota Sequoia Sport Utility boasts an eight-cylinder
engine with DOHC combining to produce a substantial 240 horsepower.
It is quiet, with smooth and responsive shifting.
The Sequoia SR5
and Sequoia Limited both feature two-wheel rear drive, while
the Sequoia SR5 4WD and Sequoia Limited 4WD boast four-wheel
on-demand drive for more demanding conditions. Transmission
is four-speed automatic, and each vehicle is equipped with
mud and snow SBR tires.
Safety features
are extensive and include ABS brakes, front fog lights, and
traction control. Other standards range from driver depowered
air bag to passenger depowered air bag, both front and rear
head restraints, and optional side impact air bags.
Child safety locks
have been installed on each vehicle. The rear defroster and
rear wiper keep the back window clear for optimum visibility.
Luxury standards
and options are equally generous and include air conditioning,
cruise/speed control, power windows, power door locks, and
dual power mirrors. Ten cupholders, cargo hooks and a cargo
net, and four power points can be located in the interior,
as well as other pockets and bins. \
Other standards
include an AM/FM stereo with CD player, and options and standard
packages with a theft deterrent system, leather seating and
a moonroof/sunroof.
