2002 Audi S4 Sedan & S4 Avant Wagon
The new 2002 Audi S4 Sedan and its versatile counterpart,
the S4 Avant Wagon, have been busy raising a few eyebrows
in the industry for their superb attention to luxurious
detail, world-class safety features, and solid performance.
Coupled with a timeless, flowing design that is a pleasure
to behold, the five-passenger S4 models are sure to
be a hit this year.
A quiet yet powerful engine lies at the heart of each
vehicle, boasting a DOHC biturbo 90-degree V6 with five
valves per cylinder, variable valve timing, and variable
composite intake manifold. Two versatile configurations
are offered - a 250 horsepower 2.7-litre V6 with six-speed
manual transmission and quattro all-wheel drive, or
a 250 horsepower 2.7-litre V6 with a five-speed Tiptronic
transmission and quattro all-wheel drive.
The manual transmission accelerates from 0-60 in just
5.9 seconds, while the Tiptronic version hits the mark
in 6.5 seconds. Pick your poison; the S4 is one fine
piece of machinery and a joy to drive. And with its
finely calibrated suspension, its handling is responsive
while providing a quiet ride.
Climbing inside the 2002 Audi S4 Sedan, youll
an incredible array of comforts and conveniences. Standard
fare includes Silk Nappa leather seating surfaces, and
gray polished Birdseye Maple wood trim inlays in the
instrument panel, center console, and doors. Passengers
are spoiled with fully automatic climate control with
air filtration system, 10-way power driver and front
passenger Sport seats, power windows, power door locks,
and a Symphony AM/FM stereo with CD and cassette players
and six speakers.
With the drivers experience close at heart, the
S4 Sedan packs in a leather-wrapped 3-spoke Sport steering
wheel, leather-wrapped gearshift knob and hand brake
lever, and electronic cruise control (handily mounted
on the steering wheel in Tiptronic models). And for
those of you who live in colder climes, the drivers
side lock is heated to prevent freezing.
Inclement weather was also a consideration when it
came to planning many of the exterior features of the
2002 Audi S4 Sedan. Every vehicle is equipped with heated
windshield washer nozzles, high-pressure retractable
headlight washers, heated dual power outside mirrors,
two front fog lights, and one rear fog light. For a
sleek and contemporary look, the grand exterior is finished
off with body-colored protective side moldings and flush
door handles.
With the S4 Sedan appealing to a wide variety of drivers,
including those with families, safety becomes an important
factor to which great attention has been paid. Every
vehicle is bolstered with rear child safety locks, child
seat tethers and anchors, first aid kit, and an emergency
triangle stowed in the rear luggage area. Further safety
measures include ABS brakes, Electronic Stabilization
Program, tool kit, and central locking system.
Passengers are further protected by side head protection
air bags in the front and rear seating areas, driver
and front passenger seat-mounted chest side air bags,
as well as driver and passenger dual-stage air bags.
Each seating position is also fitted with a head restraint
and three-point seat belts.
For those with busy lifestyle, families, or diverse
work requirements, the 2002 Audi S4 Avant Wagon will
prove to be a versatile solution. With the convenient
liftgate that opens up to 31.3 cubic feet of EPA luggage
volume, loading and unloading your gear is a breeze.
And with the 60/40 split folding seats down, the area
is expanded to 63.7 cubic feet! The 2002 S4 Avant Wagon
also adds to the range of standards outlined above roof
rails with a bright finish, a retractable luggage cover,
retractable luggage partition net, and even an expandable
ski sack. Off you go!
