The new 2002 BMW 540i Sport Wagon is an upper-end vehicle
that features smooth lines, class and sensibility. It
actually makes a strong case against sport utility vehicles
with its practical nature, intense power, and sheer
luxury. Combined with a trustworthy European design
and an excellent reputation, the BMW 540i Sport Wagon
is an intelligent choice for busy people.
The interior brims with features such wood trim, folding
rear seat, leather upholstery, ten-way power front seat
with memory, and a power front passenger seat with power
headrests. Automatic climate control keeps everybody
comfortable, and a power glass moonroof adds to the
airy feel.
Each BMW 540i Sport Wagon has conveniences such as
power door locks, keyless entry system, heated dual
power mirrors, and power windows. Other standards include
a rear door roller blind, cruise control, and a theft
deterrent system. Handy features like a heated driver
side door locks and heated windshield washer jets prevent
freezing in the winter.
Passengers will enjoy and anti-theft AM/FM stereo with
cassette player; a CD player is available as an option.
The handbrake boot, gearshift handle and knob are all
leather for extra class. The rear door makes loading
and unloading just about anything easy.
The BMW 540i Sport Wagon is equipped with many important
safety features as well. Standards include ABS brakes,
passenger depowered air bag, driver depowered air bag,
and both front and rear head restraints. Also part of
the basic package are side head protection air bags,
side impact air bags, halogen front fog lights, and
child safety locks.
Impact sensors automatically shut off the fuel, turn
on hazard lights, and unlock all of the doors in the
vent of an accident.
Under the hood, the BMW 540i Sport Wagon has an impressive
eight-cylinder engine that rivals the most powerful
trucks and SUVs. The 4.4-litre light alloy V-8
has 32 valves, four overhead camshafts with variable
valve timing, and 282 horsepower. This thing can really
rip when you want it to.
The standard transmission is what BMW calls five-speed
Steptronic 3-mode. It combines automatic,
sport automatic, and clutchless manual transmission;
it is highly responsive to driving demands.
Each BMW 540i Sport Wagon is also equipped with sixteen-inch
alloy wheels with all-season tires, and front and rear
anti-roll bars.
Further upgrades in performance, safety, and luxury
are available as options and packages. Specifically,
