2002 Chrysler Sebring
Convertible
Fresh air and wind in
your face are pure delight in the open-top driving experience
of the 2002 Chrysler Sebring Convertible. Sebring Convertible
builds on the unprecedented combination of unmistakable
road presence, athletic handling and class-leading interior
size to remain the leader of the segment.
"Not only does the
recently redesigned Sebring Convertible give the Chrysler
brand the cachet of an image-leading convertible, but
it also delivers the athletic handling, spirited performance,
elegant design and premium features that our customers
expect from Chrysler," said
Tom Marinelli, Vice PresidentChrysler/Jeep®
Division Global Brand Center, DaimlerChrysler Corporation.
For 2002-1/2, the fun-to-drive
features of Sebring Convertible are enhanced even more
with the new GTC model, which features the 2.7-liter
V-6 engine, sport suspension and five-speed manual transaxle
or automatic four-speed, while staying competitively
priced for convertible enthusiasts. Also new on the
GTC model are a rear decklid spoiler, unique 16-inch
painted aluminum wheels, color-keyed bodyside molding
and new badging for an even sportier appearance. Inside
the GTC are two-tone seats, unique instrument panel
inserts to replace the woodgrain, white-faced instrument
cluster dials and AM/FM CD stereo. The GTC will be available
in four exterior colors: Bright Silver, Black, Stone
White and Inferno Red. Interior color options on the
GTC are Taupe or Sandstone.
New for 2002, Sebring
Convertible LX is adding core value to the equation
with an available 2.4-liter DOHC 16-valve, four-cylinder
engine rated at 150 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 167.3
lb.-ft. of torque at 4000 rpm. Under the hood of all
Sebring Convertible LXi and Limited models is a 2.7-liter
DOHC 24-valve V-6 engine that delivers 200 horsepower
at 5900 rpm and 190 lb.-ft. of torque at 4850 rpm. The
2.7-liter V-6 engine is available on the LX model. For
added fun and driver interaction, Sebring Limited has
standard AutoStick®, which provides the control
of a manual with the convenience of an automatic transaxle.
All 2002 Sebring Convertibles
boast an extensive array of safety features including
multi-stage front air bags, seat belt pretensioners,
repositioned higher head restraints, internal emergency
trunk release and improved occupant protection with
additional front door beams and an improved safety cage.
Active safety features include standard four-wheel disc
brake system on LX, LXi and Limited. Anti-lock braking
system "ABS Plus" is optional on LX, LXi and
standard on the Limited. The "ABS Plus" system
senses speed differences among all four wheels during
braking in a turn or in avoidance maneuvers, and rations
a precise amount of force to each wheel so the car stays
stable.
While the exclusive two-toned
Deep Royal Blue and Cream leather interior is still
unique to the Sebring Convertible Limited, customers
can order new for 2002 a dramatic monochromatic Deep
Royal Blue leather interior on the Limited model as
well. The LX and LXi maintain the Taupe and Sandstone
interior color choices in premium cloth or leather trim.
New exterior colors for
2002 include Steel Blue Pearl, Onyx Green Pearl and
Light Almond Pearl.
From the beginning, Chrysler
Sebring Convertible was designed and engineered to be
a convertible, not a conversion vehicle that compromises
interior space and driving pleasure. Sebring Convertible
stays ahead of the crowd with the largest total interior
size of 90.3 cu. ft., including the largest cargo area
of 11.3 cu. ft. for a total of 101.6 cu. ft.
The world-class Sebring
Convertible top is designed with a full cloth headliner
crafted from state-of-the-art materials for providing
sound and climate insulation. The convertible top also
features a solid glass back window and electric rear
window defroster, as well as a four-window down system
that works by holding one button for the top and all
four windows to go down simultaneously.
A short/long arm (SLA)
front suspension system provides superior balance between
handling stability and ride comfort, while the rear
multi-link suspension contributes to refined ride and
agile handling by reducing friction. The fun-to-drive
equation of Sebring Convertible is enhanced with standard
15-inch P205/65R15 tires on the LX model. Standard on
LXi and Limited models are 16-inch wheels and P205/60R16
tires, which are optional equipment
on the LX.
Chrysler Sebring Convertible
is designed and engineered by the Large Car Platform
Team, and manufactured at the DaimlerChrysler Sterling
Heights Assembly Plant in Sterling Heights (Mich.) along
with Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Stratus sedans.
