2002 Honda Insight

The new 2002 Honda Insight Hatchback demonstrates one of the most fascinating approaches to automotive design and technology that we have recently seen. With a concerned eye towards fuel economy and environmental responsibility, Honda has pioneered a unique-looking vehicle whose main distinction is its gasoline-electric hybrid engine.

While you drive, the car runs on the electric battery, which recharges itself as you drive thus eliminating the need to plug it in. When you need extra power for passing or merging for example, the gasoline engine kicks in to give you a boost. It is those times when the gasoline takes over that the battery experiences its recharge. A lightweight aluminum hybrid space frame combines with this feature, and the resulting fuel economy rating is an astonishing 61/68 (city/hwy).

In addition to the gasoline-electric hybrid feature, the 3-cylinder variable-timing SOHC engine produces 67 horsepower. Drive type is two-wheel front, and standard transmission is five-speed manual. Automatic transmission is available as an option. The front brakes are vented disc, while the rear brakes are aluminum drum. Steering is is electric power assisted rack and pinion.

Each vehicle is equipped with fourteen-inch aluminum alloy wheels. Suspension in the front is independent struts with coil springs, while in the rear is trailing are with torsion beam suspension.

The 2002 Honda Insight Hatchback has a seating capacity of two passengers and has two doors plus its convenient rear hatch door. It comes equipped with a automatic air conditioning with pollen filter, a keyless entry system with panic feature, power door locks, and color-keyed dual power mirrors. A theft deterrent system is included, and the AM/FM stereo with CD player and two speakers is a dealer-installed option.

In the safety category, the Honda Insight Hatchback features ABS brakes, driver side air bag, passenger side air bag, front head restraints, and a rear wiper and defroster to keep the back window clear. Seatbelts are 3-point for both driver and passengers.

With the numerous luxury and convenience features that are included in what is already a money-saving, innovative vehicle, we highly recommend the Honda Insight Hatchback. Backed by Honda quality and warranty, it’s an excellent choice particularly for city drivers.
