new 2002 SLK-Class Convertible. Three sporty models
grace the line up: SLK230 Kompressor Convertible, SLK320
Convertible, and SLK32 AMG Convertible.
The two-door Mercedes-Benz
SLK230 Kompressor begins with a seating capacity of
two passengers and a wide variety of comforts and conveniences.
Each vehicle is equipped with air conditioning, cruise
control, a theft deterrent system, and a handy keyless
entry system. A premium AM/FM stereo with CD player
comes as a package.
As well, you’ll
travel in a pleasant air-conditioned atmosphere - when
you’re not cruising around with the top down. The
roof is power-retractable, with other items such as
dual mirrors, windows, and door locks are also power
operated. Seating and details are made of fine leather.
Under the hood of the
rear wheel drive SLK 230 Kompressor is a supercharged
four-cylinder engine with DOHC, 192 horsepower, and
six-speed manual transmission with optional automatic
transmission.
Mercedes-Benz takes safety
seriously, with standards such as ABS brakes, driver
side air bag, passenger side air bag, and side impact
air bags. The passenger side air bag has a cut-off switch.
The list continues with front and rear head restraints,
traction control, and front fog lights.

The second model, the
SLK320 Convertible, takes the entry-level package and
adds a six-cylinder engine with SOHC, 229 lbs-ft of
torque, and 215 horsepower. This model features a fun
six-speed manual transmission, although an equally responsive
automatic transmission is available as an option. Equipped
with all-season performance SBR tires and a stiff suspension,
the rear wheel drive handling is sharp and efficient.

At the highest end of
the 2002 line up, the Mercedes-Benz SLK32 AMG Convertible
sports a pumped-up six-cylinder engine with a whopping
349 horsepower and 332 lbs-ft of torque. Combined with

going!
