2002 Nissan Maxima

Nissan is the originator of one of the stiffest sources of competition in the full-size sedan class - the Maxima Sedan. This vehicle has been around for many years, and the new 2002 line up brings with it an increase in engine power and the addition of even more luxuries to what was already a superior all-around package.

Three Nissan Maxima Sedan models are offered this year, each with four-door entry and a seating capacity of five passengers in an incredibly roomy interior. Packed with power, luxury, and high standards for safety, each of the Maxima GXE Sedan, Maxima SE Sedan, and Maxima GLE Sedan offer a wide variety of choices to adapt to your lifestyle and personal demands in a high-end vehicle.

The Nissan Maxima GXE Sedan sets the bar high with standards such as air conditioning, cruise control, keyless entry system, power door locks, dual power mirrors, and power windows. As if that were not enough for a base model, it continues with AM/FM stereo with CD player, theft deterrent system, leather-wrapped shifter, 8-way power driver’s seat, and a folding rear seat to pile more of your luggage and other fun stuff into your car.

As we mentioned, the Maxima GXE Sedan’s performance has been upgraded to a 3.5-litre 24-valve DOHC six-cylinder engine with a highly impressive 255 horsepower and 246 lbs-ft of torque. As a result, highway driving is an absolutely effortless pleasure. Drive type is front wheel, and standard transmission is four-speed automatic that responds quite well. The fuel economy rating is 19/26 (city/hwy).

Safety standards cover a lot of ground with overall design and extra precautions that include ABS brakes, driver side air bag, passenger side air bag, front head restraints, three-point seatbelts, and child safety locks.

Base invoice price: $22,326
Base list price: $24,699

Moving along to the second model, the Nissan Maxima SE Sedan takes the impressive entry-level package and adds to it front fog lights, sport suspension, and the options of side impact air bags, limited slip differential, and ABS brakes. Supple leather seating and leather-wrapped steering wheel are included, and you may add a moonroof as an option as well. All of this for a very small price difference from the previous model.

Base invoice price: $22,871
Base list price: $25,449

At the highest end of the line up, the Nissan Maxima GLE Sedan finishes up with the addition of interior wood trim, 4-way power adjustable passenger’s seat, driver’s seat memory, 17-inch seven-spoke alloy wheels, and a spruced-up audio system with seven speakers including woofers and tweeters.

Base invoice price: $24,354
Base list price: $27,099
