Ready to hit the open highways and
twisting roads, the new 2002 Pontiac Firebird Coupe
is introduced for the year 2002. Three models provide
you with ample choice when it comes to performance,
and each of them packs some serious luxury features.
The Firebird Coupe, Firebird Formula Coupe, and Firebird
Trans Am Coupe all have room for four people and have
two doors.
First off the line is the Pontiac
Firebird Coupe, the entry-level model that is anything
but basic. It packs a six-cylinder engine with center
of vee camshaft, sequential fuel injection, and a grand
200 horsepower plus 225 lbs-ft of torque.
Equipped with touring radials, the
rear-wheel drive Firebird Coupe features standard five-speed
manual transmission and a fuel economy rating that hovers
around 19/31 (city/hwy). Automatic transmission is optional
for those who prefer it.
The Pontiac Firebird Coupe is jammed
with features such as air conditioning, cruise control,
AM/FM stereo with CD player, and a theft deterrent system.
Other standard items include power outside mirrors,
power windows, power door locks, and a healthy dose
of conveniences sprinkled throughout the cabin.
Leather seating is offered as an
option, and both limited slip differential and a keyless
entry system come as packages.
As far as safety goes, the Pontiac
Firebird Coupe features front fog lights, ABS brakes,
front head restraints, and both driver and passenger
side depowered air bags. Traction control is available
as an option.
The second model up is the Pontiac
Firebird Formula Coupe, which adds the benefits of all-season
performance SBR tires to the beefed-up 310 horsepower
eight-cylinder engine. The standard transmission is
four-speed automatic.
Taking the 2002 model line up even
further, the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Coupe finishes
off the impressive features with the addition of sporty
leather seating and details for a sophisticated look.
