2002 Saturn SL2:
At the highest end of Saturns
entry-level sedan line up is the new 2002 Saturn SL2
Sedan, a four-door vehicle that seats five passengers
and contains a great variety of features for a very
low price. Not only does it pack a lot of value, its
exterior is sophisticated-looking and the performance
steps up a few levels from the vehicles that precede
it.
Among the comforts and conveniences
in the Saturn SL2 Sedan are an AM/FM stereo with four
speakers, and CFC-free air conditioning. To accommodate
surplus luggage and other gear, the rear seat splits
60/40 and folds down, allowing up to two passengers
to remain in the back.
The drivers seat has adjustable
lumbar support for increased comfort, and the steering
wheel is also adjustable for height. The interior is
finished in upgraded cloth upholstery, and the exterior
sports color-keyed door handles and bumpers for a stylish
and modern appearance.
To ensure the flawless appearance
of the exterior, each Saturn SL2 has been constructed
with dent and corrosion resistant polymer bodyside panels.
As for performance, the Saturn SL2
Sedan is equipped with a 1.9-litre, sixteen-valve, four-cylinder
engine with dual overhead camshaft. It produces 122
lbs-ft of torque and 124 horsepower, cruising around
urban streets nicely with a four-wheel independent suspension
providing a smooth ride.
The Saturn SL2 Sedan comes with
touring SBR tires and fifteen-inch steel wheels with
full wheel covers for a finished look. Each vehicle
has front wheel drive, and the standard transmission
is five-speed manual. Automatic transmission is available
as an option.
For those calculating their present
and future expenditures carefully, the fuel economy
rating of the Saturn SL2 Sedan is approximately 27/38
mpg (city/hwy) for the manual transmission models, and
25/36 mpg (city/hwy) for the automatic models.
With safety in mind, the 2002 Saturn
SL2 Sedan is fitted with features such as side impact
protection, front and rear crumple zones, steel spaceframe
construction, a driver side air bag, and a passenger
depowered air bag. Three-point seatbelts are standard,
with the exception of a rear center lapbelt.
The trunk has an emergency release
handle to prevent mishaps, and the rear seating area
is equipped with child safety locks for the same purpose.
