2002 Toyota Camry

For the past four years, the Toyota Camry four-door sedan has been the best-selling family sedan on the market. The new 2002 Toyota Camry Sedan line up is aimed at clinching the title yet again with increases in size, engine, and overall power with a quieter ride and better handling than previous model years.

A more diverse model line up has been designed to attract an even broader vase of Toyota Camry enthusiasts, with various levels of luxury and performance features to suit a variety of driving and lifestyle requirements.

Six sedan models have been presented, including the 2002 Toyota Camry LE Sedan, Toyota Camry LE V6 Sedan, Toyota Camry Se Sedan, Toyota Camry SE V6 Sedan, Toyota Camry XLE Sedan, and Toyota Camry XLE V6 Sedan. Also, be sure to check out our reports on the 2002 Toyota Camry Solara Convertible and Coupe line-ups for different and exciting approaches to the Camry concept.

The base model 2002 Toyota Camry LE is absolutely loaded with luxuries that you don’t normally see in the average entry-level vehicle - an effort to deliver as many features as possible to raise the bar against the competition - without stretching your pocketbook.

The 2002 Toyota Camry LE has been packed with standards such as air conditioning with a pollen and dust filter, cruise control, power door locks, dual power outside mirrors, and power windows. The rear seat folds down to create more storage space, and an AM/FM stereo with CD player and six speakers provides a clear and powerful sound.

Other standard fare listed includes cup holders, rear defroster, tilt steering wheel, and rear defroster, with a keyless entry system and moonroof available as options. The seating capacity is five passengers, with an increase in legroom for 2002 for those traveling in the back seat - without compromising any room for the driver and front passenger.

Engine specifications for the new 2002 Toyota Camry LE Sedan base model include a spruced-up 2.4-litre four-cylinder VVT-i engine with DOHC, 157 horsepower, and 162@4000 (lbs/ft) of torque. The transmission is a highly efficient five-speed manual with optional automatic transmission.

The 2002 Toyota Camry LE Sedan features front-wheel drive, and each car is equipped with all-season SBR tires. In the interests of the environment, the Camry qualifies as an ultra-low emission vehicle. Due to a decrease in weight and improved aerodynamics, the fuel economy rating is reported to be 24/33 mpg (city/hwy). Overall, the handling is terrific and the ride smooth and quiet.

Safety features on the 2002 Toyota Camry LE Sedan include driver and front passenger air bags, child safety locks, and both front and rear head restraints. Side impact air bags and ABS brakes are available as options.

Tuning things up a bit, the 2002 Toyota Camry LE V6 Sedan takes this impressive package and adds an engine immobilizer, ABS brakes with electronic brake-force distribution, and fifteen-inch aluminum alloy wheels. The six-cylinder engine cranks out 192 horsepower.

2002 Toyota Camry SE Sedan packs aerodynamic multi-reflector halogen headlights with black-out sport sport trim, sixteen-inch wheels, sport-tuned suspension, and integrated fog lamps. The exterior is highlighted with black-out sport grille with chrome trim, rear spoiler, and chrome-tipped exhaust, while the interior shows off a leather-wrapped 3-spoke sport steering wheel and gearshift lever.

For the 2002 Toyota Camry SE V6 Sedan, just add an engine immobilzer, ABS brakes with electronic brake-force distibution, sixteen-inch 5-spoke aluminum alloy wheels, and 192 horsepower!

At the top of the list, the 2002 Toyota Camry XLE Sedan takes all standard LE features plus heated dual power outside mirrors, chrome-trimmed body side moldings, multi-adjustable power driver’s seat and front passenger’s seats, and wood-grain interior trim with chrome accents on door handles and air vents. As well, passengers will be treated to automatic climate control and a JBL Premium 3-in-1 AM/FM CD and cassette player with 8 speakers.

The 2002 Toyota Camry XLE Sedan also comes equipped with ABS brakes, HomeLink universal transceiver, trunk-mounted cargo net, anti-theft system with engine immobilizer and alarm, and remote keyless entry system.

And to finish off the line up, the 2002 Toyota Camry XLE V6 Sedan takes its siblings characteristics and upgrades performance to 192 horsepower spinning along on sixteen-inch aluminum alloy wheels.
