2002 Volkswagen Cabrio

The 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio Convertible has been around for a long time, making changes to improve and adapt its performance, luxuries, and safety standards along the way. Its popularity has withstood the influx of all kinds of competitors, but its unique look and feel makes it stand apart. Volkswagen rejects the “mid-life crisis” sports car approach for the Cabrio Convertible, and has won over its own share of enthusiasts as a result.

For the year 2002, Volkswagen offers us three models to choose from, Cabrio GL Convertible, Cabrio GLS Convertible, and Cabrio GLX Convertible. Each of these spunky vehicles has two doors, a retractable soft top, and a seating capacity of four passengers within its unique package.

First in the line up is the Volkswagen Cabrio GL Convertible, with extensive luxuries such as air conditioning, keyless entry system, and power door locks. Adding to the value and convenience are a folding rear seat for extra luggage and leisure gear, and a theft deterrent system. The AM/FM stereo with CD player is dealer-installed.

Volkswagen’s safety standards are high, and are listed on the Cabrio GL Convertible as driver side air bag, passenger side air bag, side impact air bag, ABS brakes, and both front and rear head restraints.

In the area of performance, the front wheel drive Cabrio GL Convertible is built with a four-cylinder SOHC engine with 115 horsepower. Standard transmission is zippy five-speed manual, and a responsive automatic transmission is also available to you as an option.

Base invoice price: $17,947
Base list price: $19,600

The GLS takes the impressive base package and graces it with the addition of cruise control for more relaxing highway driving, dual power mirrors, and power windows.

Base invoice price: $18,856
Base list price: $20,600

At the top end of the line up, the GLX Convertible combines all of the aforementioned features and takes the package further with front fog lights and supple, classy leather seating. Altogether a fun, energetic vehicle with lots of personality to boot.

Base invoice price: $20,400
Base list price: $22,300
