2002 Volkswagen Jetta
Wagon
Famous for its brilliant
European engineering and design, Volkswagen has earned
itself a solid reputation and a following of drivers
who swear by their vehicles and consider them a symbol
of style and status. This comes as no surprise given
Volkswagens devotion to quality and luxury, as
well as careful consideration given to safety.
The new 2002 Volkswagen
Jetta Wagon follows this tradition with four sophisticated
models for this year - Volkswagen Jetta GL Wagon, Volkswagen Jetta GLS
Wagon, Volkswagen Jetta GLS 1.8T Wagon, and the Volkswagen GLS VR6 Wagon.
Loaded with sensibility, performance, safety, and luxury,
the practical yet stylish Jetta Wagon is poised to set
the bar high for the competition.
At the start of the pack,
the Volkswagen Jetta GL Wagon features extensive safety
measures that include ABS brakes, side impact air bags,
passenger side air bag, driver side air bag, and both
front and rear head restraints. As well, Volkswagen
has installed child safety locks in the rear of each
of its vehicles for those with families.
The Volkswagen Jetta GL Wagon
sports a four-cylinder SOHC engine with sequential port
fuel injection system, 122 lbs-ft of torque, and a zippy
115 horsepower. Handling is excellent, and even accelerating
full-sped on the highway does not produce an excess
of vibration inside the cabin. Drive type is front wheel,
and standard transmission is five-speed manual. Automatic
transmission is available as an option for those who
prefer this convenience. The fuel economy rating is
estimated at 24/31 (city/hwy).
Finishing off with luxuries
and comforts, the Volkswagen Jetta GL Wagon blooms with standards
such as air conditioning, keyless entry system, power
door locks, and a theft deterrent system. As well, the
rear seat folds down to create more space for groceries,
baggage, and leisure gear. An AM/FM stereo with CD player
is a dealer-installed option. The seating capacity is
five comfortable passengers, with four doors and a rear
lift gate that makes loading and unloading items easy
and convenient for all. Altogether a tremendous vehicle
- and this is only the base model!
Base invoice price: $16,087
Base list price: $17,650
Next in the spot light
is the Volkswagen Jetta GLS Wagon, which takes the impressive
base package and adds to it dual power mirrors and power
windows. A moonroof/sunroof is available as a package,
as is fine leather upholstery.
Base invoice price: $17,035
Base list price: $18,700
Third in line, the Volkswagen
Jetta GLS 1.8T Wagon takes the four-cylinder engine
and gives it a boost with DOHC and turbo gas. The result
is 180 horsepower and 174 lbs-ft of torque for an exceptional
highway drive and plenty of energy to pass and merge
swiftly. Traction control has also been added to the
package as a standard feature.
Base invoice price: $18,526
Base list price: $20,350
Rolling all of the safety,
luxury, and performance features of the previous models
into one package, the Volkswagen Jetta GLS VR6 Wagon
changes things just a bit by using regular gas, which
brings it to 174 horsepower but with 181 lbs-ft of torque.
The fuel economy rating drops slightly to 19/28 (city/hwy),
but the overall value of this model is quite remarkable.
A number of aesthetic and functional additions finish
off the Volkswagen Jetta GLS VR6 Wagon with infinite value.
Base invoice price: $19,112
Base list price: $21,000
