2003 Audi A4 3.0
The 2003 Audi A4 3.0 is the larger line in the A4 series,
which also includes the A4 1.8T. Like the 1.8T, the
2003 A4 3.0 models come as a sedan, Avant wagon or sporty
Cabriolet convertible model. The Audi A4 line has a
lot to offer in terms of performance, comfort and class
and the 3.0 series has the performance and power part
down in spades, not to mention some additional interior
luxury.
Quattro 4-wheel drive is available for the sedan and
standard on the wagon and a variety of transmission
configurations are in the mix too, so look at the different
A4 3.0 options for the best setup for your needs. Innovative
multitronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)
is available for the sedan and is standard on the Cabriolet.
The near-luxury mid-size car class is the arena for
the A4 cars. As a consequence, they enjoy some of the
premier innovations and convenience technologies that
Audi has to offer.
Under the Hood
As mentioned above, the A4 3.0 models are equipped
with three different power profiles, either 220 hp V6
with Audi multitronic Continuously Variable Transmission
(CVT) and FrontTrak front-wheel drive or 220 hp with
6-speed manual transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive
or 220 hp with 5-speed Tiptronic transmission and Quattro
all-wheel drive.
This power comes from an aluminum 3.0-liter dohc V6
with variable intake manifold, 5 valves per cylinder,
continuous camshaft adjustment and hydraulic lifters.
The 220 hp is achieved at 6300 rpm and the 221 lb-ft
of torque at 3200 rpm. This power makes for pretty good
0-60 speeds with 6.9 seconds on the CVT and manual models
or a peppy 7.7 on the AWD Tiptronic transmission. Fuel
economy also varies with 20/28 mpg (city/hwy) on the
CVT, 18/25 with a manual and 18/26 with the AWD.
The A4 3.0 has great safety and control technology.
Antiskid, antilock disc brakes and an extensive passive
safety roster that includes standard dual front, front
side and curtain side airbags combine with optional
torso protection airbags for back-seat passengers. In
addition, the Cabriolet has a roll-bar behind the rear
seats that pop up automatically in a rollover situation
to protect everyone.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
Interior capabilities and configurations vary somewhat,
depending on whether you choose the sedan, wagon or
convertible (for example, the power convertible top
on the Cabriolet), but the generous selection of amenities
and comforts is pretty much standard throughout.
The list of standard features includes 12-way power
front seats, wood trim and leather upholstery. Highlights
of features shared with the 1.8T models include air
conditioning with dual-zone automatic climate controls,
cruise control, cloth upholstery on front bucket seats,
heated power mirrors and an AM/FM stereo with an in-dash
6-CD player.
