2003 Audi TT reviews and buying guide.

2003 Audi TT resources:

2003 Audi TT

Coupe and Roadster
Audi's trademark sports car is the TT. This year sees the emergence of a 2003 TT Coupe and a 2003 TT Roadster, both 2-door 2-seaters.

The TT is one of Audis most successful cars in the North American market. Its distinctive styling makes it instantly recognizable as a classic mover. The TT is clearly useful whether you are looking for a zippy commuter vehicle to brave the urban jungle or a racy cruiser for comfortable highway driving. These two models enable a choice between top-down or hardtop and on two different drive configuration platforms; front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive (AWD).

The TT has precision-tuned suspension, a rigid frame and peak torque available at 2000 rpm. This means razor-sharp response throughout the engine's range.

Under the Hood

The TT models both offer a choice of engines that you can choose between depending on your appetite for excitement. The first is a 1.8-liter turbocharged 4-cyl powerplant capable of producing 180 hp at 5500 rpm or 173 lb-ft of torque at 1950 rpm. This is coupled with a 6-speed Tiptronic® automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. As you may imagine, in a two-seater that weighs less than 3000lbs, this makes for a fast moving little rocket and it feeds a pretty serious appetite for adrenalin.

If, however, this isn't enough, you can take it up a notch to the 225 hp 4-cylinder. This power level is reached at 5900 rpm and it is matched by a beefy 207 lb-ft of torque achieved at 2200 rpm. This engine is coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission and Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive. It will do 0-60 mph in 6.3 seconds. The fuel economy estimates are pretty good because of the TT's size and efficiency. It is rated at 21/29 mpg (city/hwy).

Handling on the TT benefits from the Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP), an antiskid system, traction control and a limited slip differential. Safety systems include dual front and front side airbags, and 4-wheel antilock disc brakes.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

The TT is loaded with interior amenities whether you choose the Roadster or the Coupe. Standard equipment includes air conditioning with automatic climate control, power everything, an AM/FM/CD player, leather steering wheel and upholstery and a trip computer. The Roadster has a power retractable windbreak and a power convertible roof.

Options include major packages and stand-alone items like heated seats and Navigation.
