2003 BMW X5 resources:

2003 BMW X5

The 2003 BMW X5 is this manufacturer's answer to the SUV craze. It has a combination of luxury and utility that the class demands but it takes it a step further as it is designed to compete with the other SUV luxury entries. Vehicles like the Lexus RX 300 and the Mercedes M-Class have seta high standard but the BMW reaches and surpasses that bar in many ways.

Always performance oriented, BMW has packed both power and performance into the heart of this SUV but it also offers the standard selection of BMW interior amenities, an excellent and innovative cross-section of items. The optional add-ons that BMW has on offer is one of the most extensive in the auto industry and the X5 also benefits from this with a enhanced versatility and customer choice. The X5 line has three models, all successively more powerful than the last. It goes from the 2003 BMW X5 3.0i, through the 2003 BMW X5 4.4i and ending in the top-level 2003 X5 4.6i. All these vehicles are 4-door all-wheel drive vehicles in the same body and chassis.

Under the Hood

One V6 and two V8 engines make up the engine choices on the X5. The V6 has a 3.0-liter dohc powerplant with 225 hp at 5900 rpm and 214 lb-ft of torque at 3500. It can be teamed with either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission. It achieves 15/21 mpg (city/hwy).

The next level up offers a 4.4-liter V8 with 282 hp at 5400 rpm and 324 lb-ft of torque at 3600 rpm. It comes with a 5-speed automatic transmission and gets 13/17 mpg. At the top of the line is the 4.6-liter V8 340 hp at 5700 rpm and 350 lb-ft of torque at 3700. It comes with a 5-speed automatic transmission and gets 12/17 mpg

In order to harness all this power, all the X5 models have a solid and consistent collection of safety, handling and performance technology. This includes innovative passive safety features. The list of standard features includes all-wheel drive, traction control, an antiskid system, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, hill descent control and brake assist. The passive safety innovations add advanced airbag and seatbelt technology.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

The BMW X5 rising interior trim levels that includes all the basics on the 3.0i. The X5 4.4i adds dual-zone automatic climate control, rear climate controls, leather upholstery, power passenger seat and wood trim interior. The 4.6i has even more features including a power sunroof, a premium audio system with in-dash 6 CD changer, rain-sensing wipers and much more.

Optional add-ons and packages allow the versatility of this BMW to be broadened with even more consumer choice.
