2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
The 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo is a sporty coupe with
a wide variety of features and attributes, resulting
in a well-balanced vehicle with race-inspired styling.
The Monte Carlo seats five easily, with two front bucket
seats and plenty of space in the back. Offering a smooth
ride with a bit of kick, the comfort and performance
of the Monte Carlo compliment each other nicely. Add
to that mix a strong tradition of dependability and
a thorough set of safety features, and the description
is complete.
The 2003 Monte Carlo is available in a base LS model
and a loaded SS model. The LS comes equipped with all
the essentials, while the sportier SS is given a bit
more pep to its engine and a more performance-driven
suspension system.
Under the Hood
The 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo comes from the same
lineage as the most successful NASCAR Winston Cup racer,
and it isn't hard to find the similarities between the
two. While the street version may not get up to speed
quite a quickly as its NASCAR cousin, it does not lack
any of the power necessary for advance road driving.
The LS model has a 3.4-liter V6 with 180 hp at 5200rpm,
while the SS rounds in with a slightly quicker 3.8-liter
V6 with 200 hp at 5200rpm. Both models have 4-speed
automatic transmission.
As part of its bolstered standard features package,
the SS model has 4-wheel antilock brakes (an option
on the LS), sport suspension, traction control, and
225/60SR16 performance tires. While the LS certainly
moves about with proficiency, you'll find a little more
bite with the SS.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
The 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo comes loaded with a
long list of standard features designed to make the
driving experience as comfortable as possible. Included
in the list, to name but a few, are air conditioning
w/dual-zone manual climate controls, remote keyless
entry, and outside-temperature indicator. A number of
the characteristics that are included as standard with
the SS, such as cruise control, steering wheel radio
controls, and alloy wheels, are offered as affordable
options on the LS.
For both models, the Monte Carlo has other convenience
options available as well. These include the sophisticated
OnStar System and XM Satellite Radio, which provides
a wealth of digital channels and news services.
The 2003 Monte Carlo treads the line between a modest
small-family coupe and a sporty racecar. By offering
a nice composite of features from both sides, it turns
out that this is definitely not a bad thing.
