2003 Chevrolet Suburban 1/4 Ton
The ¾-ton version of the 2003 Chevrolet Suburban
is more powerful than the ½-ton. Were this any
other vehicle, perhaps that would not be such a statement,
but to say that something is more powerful than a Suburban
is quite a claim. Even more impressive is the optional
engine upgrade available with the ¾-ton. If it's
power you want, this full-size SUV has what you need.
There is simply no way you will find a shortage of strength
for even the most demanding of jobs.
Complimenting all this power are improved safety and
convenience features and a number of options packages
to further upgrade the Suburban. At the top of the options
list is QuadraSteer, an impressive handling and maneuverability
system. The base LS model comes equipped with all the
essentials and then some, while the LT goes one step
further. Both share the renowned performance that has
made the Suburban famous.
Under the Hood
The standard engine of the ¾-ton Suburban provides
plenty of bite. A 6.0-liter V8 with 320 horsepower at
5000rpm and 360lb-ft of torque at 4000rpm, there is
little chance it will lack in any regard when called
upon. Both 2WD and 4WD configurations are available.
Both the LS and LT have a four-wheel disc, four-wheel
antilock brake system featuring dual-piston calipers
with Dynamic Rear Proportioning. In addition, the Suburban
offers a sophisticated passenger-sensing system, which
automatically deactivates the passenger-side airbag
under certain conditions to protect children.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
The LS version of the 2003 ¾-ton Suburban has
all sorts of comforts, with dual-zone manual-control
heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system,
cruise control, AM/FM/CD player, tri-zone climate control
with manual controls and others. The LT simply provides
even more standard features to this already impressive
lineup.
QuadraSteer and the engine upgrade are the main options
available. The upgraded engine is an 8.1-liter V8 with
340 horsepower at 4200rpm and 455lb-ft of torque at
4200rpm to cover whatever you could possibly want to
do. QuadraSteer increases maneuverability and drastically
reduces the turning diameter with its 4-wheel turning
system. For convenience, XM Satellite Radio and Panasonic
DVD Passenger Entertainment System top the list of options.
More powerful than the ½-ton, the ¾-ton
Suburban simply adds to the capability for which the
vehicle is known.
