2003 Chevrolet Suburban 1/2 Ton
The 2003 Chevrolet Suburban is yet another monster
vehicle that delivers all the power you could ever want
in a full-size SUV. Not stopping there, the Suburban
has a long and attractive list of standard and available
features that turn this massive machine into a soft,
comfortable kitten - at least to those sitting in its
comfortable and convenient-laden seats, that is. But
don't let the luxury of the ride overshadow the heavy
work this SUV is capable of. Slightly smaller than the
¾-ton Suburban, the ½-ton is every bit
as big a workhorse as its counterpart.
For 2003, the ½-ton Suburban offers a wide range
of performance, safety and convenience factors to bolster
last year's model. Available in base LS or loaded LT
models, the Suburban offers 2WD or 4WD configuration
and a number of other options. Particularly of note
is the available StabiliTrak system, which provides
advanced vehicle stability regardless of the situation.
Under the Hood
Though not as big as the ¾-ton Suburban, the
½-ton Suburban's engine still has plenty of kick.
The Vortec 5300 is a 5.3-liter V8 providing a healthy
285 horsepower. 4-speed automatic is the transmission
of choice. For a large vehicle, the Suburban offers
exceptional handling with its Precision Control System.
Both the LS and LT have a four-wheel disc, four-wheel
antilock brake system featuring dual-piston calipers
with Dynamic Rear Proportioning to ensure the safety
of loved ones. In addition, Suburban's solid construction
and sophisticated dual-level airbag system provide even
greater safety.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
The LS version of the 2003-½ ton Suburban has
all the comforts you could want in any vehicle, let
alone a full-size SUV. Among the list are a dual-zone
manual-control heating, ventilation and air conditioning
(HVAC) system, cruise control, AM/FM/CD player and tri-zone
climate control with manual controls. The LT adds even
more to this already impressive lineup.
The optional StabiliTrak system is a vehicle-stability-enhancement
system that improves vehicle steadiness on various road
surfaces at various speeds by using a combination of
systems and sensors including antilock brakes, traction
control and electronic suspension. If increased safety
is your thing, StabiliTrak is the logical choice. For
convenience the Suburban provides a wealth of options
to choose from, including XM Satellite Radio and a Panasonic
DVD Passenger Entertainment System.
Safety, performance and convenience are all at the
top of the list of priorities with the 2003 ½-ton
Chevrolet Suburban, and that definitely is not a bad
thing.
