2003 Chevrolet Tahoe reviews and buying guide.

2003 Chevrolet Tahoe resources:

2003 Chevrolet Tahoe

The Chevrolet Tahoe was America's number one selling full-size SUV, and the 2003 version simply provides further evidence why. The Tahoe can pretty much do anything, and it does so in a comfortable style that makes it irresistible to those in the market for a dependable full-size SUV.

Not only is the Tahoe a rugged vehicle capable of powering through heavy terrain, it can also provide maximum seating for the largest of families. With an optional third row seat (which can be flipped down or stowed for increased cargo space), the Tahoe has the ability to seat nine passengers. The 2003 Tahoe comes in either a base LS model or an LT model, which offers a larger standard engine and more standard equipment. With many different options packages available, either Tahoe model is able to satisfy the most discriminating of tastes.

Under the Hood

The standard engine on the base LS model is a 4.8-liter V8 with 275 horsepower. The LT model offers a larger 5.3-liter V8 boasting 285 horsepower. All Tahoe models have 2WD and 4WD configurations available. 4-speed automatic transmission takes care of the shifting.

Both the LS and LT have four-wheel disc, four-wheel antilock brakes, with dual piston calipers with Dynamic Rear Proportioning. The advanced passenger-sensing system, part of the dual-level airbags provided, monitors the size of the passenger and deactivates the airbag for children, so as to prevent unnecessary injury. Additional child safety can be found with the standard LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) child-seat system..

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

The LS model of the 2003 Tahoe offers many convenience features, while the LT model naturally provides a few extra luxury items. Taken together, the Tahoe ensures that comfort will be an essential adjective used in its description.

Owners of the LS model can upgrade their engine to the 5.3-liter V8 that comes standard with the LT. With this engine, the enhanced StabiliTrak system is also offered, providing greater vehicle stability. There are many gadgets and entertainment options that can be added as well to add to the ride. In addition, packages like the Tahoe Z71 model, with its specially tuned off-road suspension, specific shock absorbers and jounce jumpers with standard stabilizer bars are available for the off-road enthusiast.

With all its versatility, it isn't hard to see why the Chevrolet Tahoe is so popular. Adding upgrades and options, the 2003 model aims to keep it that way.
