2003 Chevy Avalanche
There isn't much you can say about the Chevy Avalanche.
Simply put, it is one of the most innovative vehicles
ever. With the ability to change from a stylish, performance-driven
SUV into a tough, dependable Chevy Truck with a simple
adjustment of the revolutionary Convert-a-Cab feature,
it's not hard to see why Avalanche was named the Motor
Trend 2002 "Truck of the Year." For 2003,
the Avalanche continues to upgrade itself, with an extensive
list of safety features, an almost ridiculous array
of sophisticated entertainment options, and a new driver
convenience package.
The 2003 Avalanche is offered in a standard 1500 series,
a special North Face Edition for outdoor enthusiasts,
and a bulked-up 2500 version for those who require even
more power than the 1500 provides.
Under the Hood
The 1500 series comes with a mighty 5.3-liter V8 engine
with 250 horsepower, while the 2500 series has an even
more robust 8.1-liter V8 engine with 340 horsepower.
All models come with 2WD or 4WD options, a performance-driven
suspension system, and four-wheel disk antilock brakes.
The security features don't end there, as the Avalanche
provides early compliance to 2005 federal seat standards
for child restraint anchorages with its LATCH (Lower
Anchors and Tethers for Children) system for child seats.
In addition, the Avalanche also has an advanced dual
front and side passenger-sensing airbag system.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
The aforementioned Covert-a-Cab system and Midgate
come standard on all models, allowing the Avalanche
to crossover from an SUV to a truck. Other standard
features include battery rundown protection, multi-zone
manual climate control, and AM/FM stereo with CD.
For the outdoor lover, the North Face Edition offers
natural color options and two Summit Pod backpacks and
Water Duffalo storage bags.
As far as option packages go, the 2003 Avalanche has
an abundant set from which to choose. For entertainment,
customers can equip their vehicle with XM Satellite
Radio, a rear-seat entertainment system with DVD and
flip-down screen, and/or a Bose audio system with six-channel
amplifier and six speakers. As if that isn't enough,
another package includes an eight-button personalized
steering wheel control, with access to the highly convenient
OnStar system. If you can't find enough gadgets to compliment
the power, performance, and innovative style of the
2003 Avalanche, you just might be impossible to please.
