2003 Chevy Silverado 2500
The three-quarter-ton Silverado 2500 is a full-size
pickup that doesn't mess around. As one would expect,
there is plenty of power and workman-like reliability
with this tough Chevy Truck. For heavy hauling and towing
needs, there aren't many vehicles on the road that can
compare with what the 2500 offers.
The 2500 is offered in a wide variety of versions to
satisfy whatever requirements customers have for their
pickup needs. There is a two-door regular cab with two-or-three
person seating and two four-door cabs, the extended
cab (two rear-hinged back doors) and crew cab (four
conventional doors), both capable of seating up to six.
The 2500 is offered in a base, LS or fully loaded LT
model. The 2500 regular and extended cabs come with
either a 6.5-ft. flare-fender Sportside Box, a 6.5-ft.
Fleetside Short Box, or an 8.1-ft. Fleetside Long Box,
while all crew cabs have the Fleetside Short Box. Added
to the mix are a series of options, ranging from performance-enhancing
powertrain upgrades to numerous style and convenience
features.
Under the Hood
The Silverado 2500 is equipped with a tough 6.0-liter/
364-cu. in V8 engine with 300 horsepower at 4400rpm
and 360lb-ft of torque at 4000rpm. Not surprisingly,
it is offered in 2WD or 4WD configurations. Antilock
4-wheel disc brakes are standard.
Safety is covered with dual front airbags and the 2500's
solid construction, which provides armor-like protection
in the event of a collision. Steady handling and traction
control provide extensive preventative cover to avoid
dangerous situations.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
All Silverado 2500 models have been redesigned, giving
a fresh look to the lineup. The base 2500 comes standard
with all the necessary amenities. LS owners will enjoy
added cruise control, AM/FM CD player, carpeting and
remote keyless entry. LT owners have even more comforts
to relax with, including the OnStar System, leather
upholstery, heated bucket seats and a Bose AM/FM radio
with in-dash 6-disc CD changer.
There are so many different options packages to choose
from it can almost seem overwhelming. Of course, that
is definitely not a bad thing. The 2500 can go from
a bare-bones beast to a near-luxury full-size pickup,
depending on your preference. Some of the available
features are the XM Satellite Radio system and Panasonic
DVD Passenger Entertainment System.
The result is a highly appealing full-size pickup with
customer satisfaction on its mind.
