2003 Chevy Silverado 2500HD reviews and buying guide.

2003 Chevy Silverado 2500HD resources:

2003 Chevy Silverado 2500HD

The Silverado 2500HD is offered with a number of engine upgrades to bolster the already significant power found on the regular 2500. Like the name suggests, the 2500HD is there for heavy-duty work. This includes towing, hauling, and transporting the heaviest loads in the toughest conditions.

Like the 2500, the 2500HD comes in wide variety of versions to satisfy whatever requirements customers have for their pickup needs. There is a two-door regular cab for two-or-three person seating, and a four-door extended cab (two rear-hinged back doors) and crew cab (four conventional doors), both capable of seating up to six. The regular cab has an 8.1 ft. long box, while the extended cab and crew cab offer either the long box or a 6.5 ft. short box. 2WD and 4WD configurations are available on all cab sizes, as well as a special chassis cab enhancement. There are two models to choose from, LS and uplevel LT (not available on regular cab size), which provides more standard equipment.

Under the Hood

The Silverado 2500HD is equipped with a tough 6.0-liter/ 364-cu. in V8 engine with 300 horsepower at 4400rpm and 360lb-ft of torque at 4000rpm. 5-speed manual transmission is standard, while 4-speed and 5-speed automatic transmission and 6-speed manual transmission are optional. A standard trailering and hauling package attends the 2500HD as well. For safety, the 2500HD's sturdy construction, clean handling and power Hydro-boost brake-apply system (four-wheel disc, four-wheel antilock brakes) ensure the security of driver and passengers alike.

Two optional engines are also available across all models. One is an 8.1-liter/ 496-cu. in V8 with 340 hp at 4200rpm and 455lb-ft. of torque at 3200rpm, while the other is a diesel 6.6-liter/ 403-cu. in V8 with 300 hp at 3100rpm and 520lb-ft. of torque at 1800rpm. With such a selection, buyers will have no reason to complain of a lack of engine variety.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

The 2003 Silverado 2500HD looks and acts tough. The LS model has such standard features as air conditioning w/dual-zone manual climate control, power steering, tilt steering wheel, and vinyl upholstery. LT models have even more comforts to relax with, including the OnStar System, leather upholstery, heated bucket seats and more.

Like all Silverados, the 2500HD has a wealth of options packages to compliment the performance and reliability inherent in every model.

The 2003 Silverado 2500HD certainly lives up to the challenge that comes with its 'heavy duty' title.
