2003 Dodge Neon
The Dodge Neon is an inexpensive car that will perform
time and time again. It is durable, comfortable, reliable
and safe, features all value-conscious shoppers love
to see. Yet if you take a closer look at the Neon lineup,
you will notice that it offers packages for performance
enthusiasts as well. This is especially true with the
new SRT-4 model, which bases its design on the concept
of "Street and Racing Technology."
All Dodge Neons have a four-door sedan body and enough
seating for five passengers. For 2003, the Dodge Neon
lineup consists of the popular SE model, the well-packaged
SXT model, the sporty R/T model and the aforementioned
new SRT-4 model.
Under the Hood
Both the SE and SXT models come with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder
engine that provides 132 horsepower. The R/T model is
fitted with a similar sized engine that ups the horsepower
to 150. The performance-drive SRT-4 tops the speed charts
with a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine that delivers 215
horsepower. In fact, in the entire Dodge lineup, only
the Viper can outgun the SRT-4 from 0-60 mph. Not bad
for a vehicle that was once thought to only provide
value.
Along with their trademark good fuel economy, all 2003
Neons feature a revised automatic transaxle calibration
and a new generation controller that combines engine
and transaxle function. In addition, new engine mounts
make the 2003 Neon quieter than ever before.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
The 2003 Dodge Neon has a new look, inside and out,
for the modern age. New front and rear fascias, headlamps
and taillamps round out the Neon's updated exterior
features, while on the inside a new steering wheel with
an aluminum Dodge medallion is added for 2003 as well.
In addition, all-new wheels and wheel covers are featured
on each Neon model.
While the base SE offers plenty of convenient features,
the top-line R/T model has many premium appointments.
Among the standards on the interior are air conditioning,
power mirrors, front windows and door locks, remote
keyless entry, cruise control and an AM/FM/cassette
with in-dash 6-disc CD changer.
Optional equipment is offered alone or in packages.
With or without it, each 2003 Dodge Neon will perform
without a fuss.
