2003 Dodge Ram 1500
Superior space, power and handling define the 2003
Dodge Ram 1500. A leader in the ½-ton full-size
pickup class, the 1500 has extreme versatility to satisfy
all manner of pickup owner. For 2003, the selection
gets even bigger, as the Ram offers two new packages:
"Off-Road" and "Work Special." As
its name suggests, the "Off-Road" package
is designed for adventure. The "Work Special"
is an affordable work truck for those who need even
more grit. Built for long days, the "Work Special"
has a unique steel rear bumper, dark gray, color-coded
front fascia, gray grille surround and bars and steel
wheels.
The 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 is offered two body styles:
two-door regular cab and four-door crew cab Quad Cab.
Both come in ST and uplevel SLT trim levels with cargo
beds of 6.3-ft or 8-ft.
Under the Hood
There are three very capable engines that power the
2003 Dodge Ram 1500. A 3.7-liter Magnum V6 engine is
standard on two-wheel drive Dodge Ram 1500 regular cab,
as well as two-wheel drive Quad Cabs with the 8-ft bed.
It pumps out 215 horsepower. All other models use a
4.7-liter V8 that dishes out 240 horsepower. For customers
who need even more power in their pickup, a 5.9-liter
V8 is available, capable of 245 horsepower.
Standard rack-and-pinion steering on all Dodge Ram
models results in a precise and firm steering feel.
Four-wheel drive models feature a torsion bar independent
front suspension that improves ride quality and quietness
and leaf springs in the rear for extra durability. In
terms of safety, all Ram 1500s have dual front airbags
and 4-wheel disc brakes with antilock in the rear. The
2003 Dodge Ram also includes a standard Lower Anchors
and upper Tethers for Children (LATCH) child seat anchorage
system.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
Both the regular cab and Quad Cab provide plenty of
space inside the cabin for passengers and extra gear.
Regular cabs have seating for three, with the most cabin
room in the segment. Quad Cabs can handle six without
a problem. Some of the standard features that come with
ST models include air conditioning, power steering,
vinyl upholstery, AM/FM/cassette, digital clock, tachometer,
cargo-box light, variable-intermittent wipers and a
black vinyl floor covering. Uplevel SLT models add cruise
control, cloth upholstery, heated power mirrors, AM/FM/CD
player, trip computer, passenger-side visor mirror,
carpeting and more.
A good number of options are available in packages
and individually. But whatever way the 2003 Dodge Ram
1500 is configured, you can guarantee it will perform.
