2003 Ford Thunderbird reviews and buying guide.

2003 Ford Thunderbird resources:

2003 Ford Thunderbird

For style and classic resonance, few car names have more prestige than the Thunderbird. The 2003 Ford Thunderbird Convertible is no exception. Naturally, the list of features has to start with the powerful engine. Many horses are caught under the bonnet of this beast: 280 of them to be precise. The result is lots of acceleration and great ratings for handling too.

Combine this power with great luxury and safety features and you have an appropriately classy ride for this rear-wheel drive near-luxury car.

Under the Hood

The Thunderbird has a 3.9-liter V8, where the 280 hp is found at 6000 rpm. At 4000 rpm 286 lb-ft of torque are produced and this translates to fast as lightning. All this power is controlled by a 5-speed automatic transmission that gets a respectable 17 and 23 mpg (city and hwy).

Traction control enhances the road-holding and handling ability and safety is bolstered by 4-wheel antilock disc brakes.

The Thunderbird is equipped with dual front and front side airbags, 235/50VR17 tires and a theft deterrent system.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

Interior features on the Deluxe edition of the Thunderbird are as one would expect from this level of automobile. In fact, so many things are included at the Deluxe level that the Premium model only adds heated seats and chrome alloy rims.

So, on the Deluxe expect to find dual zone automatic climate control with air conditioning, cruise control, automatic headlights, an AM/FM/CD player with in-dash 6-disc changer, power adjustable seats with lumbar control, a power convertible top and leather upholstery.

Also included are power mirrors, door locks, windows and both remote keyless entry and trunk-lid release.

Optional add-ons include a removable hard-top, a manual-shift capability and various accent and color accent packages. These are stylistic features like an exterior color steering wheel, seat insert, shifter and hardtop or simple black fittings for interior items.
