2003 GMC Savana 3500 reviews and buying guide.

2003 GMC Savana 3500 resources:

2003 GMC Savana 3500

The Savana 3500 passenger van is the largest of the Savanas. Tipping the scales at a meaty one-ton, the 3500 is pure strength. With room for up to fifteen passengers, it is safe to assume that the 3500 is built for heavy-duty transportation. Not surprisingly, the Savana 3500 is slotted in the full-size van segment, and equally not surprising is the tough GMC engine that comes standard with this massive vehicle.

The Savana 3500 is available in a regular 135-inch wheelbase length and an extended 155-inch wheelbase length. Like all Savanas, the 3500 comes with a healthy number of enhancements for 2003. Nearly every facet of the vehicle has been upgraded, including an advanced new Class II electrical system, more driver alerts and improved safety, passenger comfort and functionality.

Under the Hood

The engine that powers this big beast is a Vortec 6.0-liter V8 with 300 horsepower, featuring reduced emissions and improved cold start performance. Offered with a tow/haul mode and with a redesigned induction system with new mass airflow sensors for quieter operation and more than double the normal filter life, the 3500 has customer satisfaction in mind.

A world class four-wheel power disc, four-wheel antilock brake system with HydroBoost hydraulic-assist power-brake booster and GM's Dynamic Rear Proportioning ensures quicker stops and require less pedal force. Dual front airbags are also standard, as are driver and front passenger belts with pre-tensioners and energy-absorbing retractors, three-point lap-and-shoulder belts in all first- and second-row seating positions and a child seat tether-type restraint anchorage system.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

All 3500 models have two swing-open cargo doors and, on the passenger side, either RH sliding or swing-out 60/40 doors or optional LH swing-out 60/40 doors. A smarter electrical system features a new instrument cluster to monitor and report on 20 system functions. New front-end styling distinguishes the 2003 Savana from anything else, while an improved interior provides more supportive front seats, better lighting, higher quality fit-and-finish on panels, safer trim and an improved headliner.

For 2003 the OnStar system is an option available across all models. OnStar services include automatic notification of air bag deployment, stolen vehicle location, remote door unlock, emergency services dispatch, roadside assistance, remote diagnostics, route support, convenience services and OnStar Concierge, plus hands-free phone calls.

With all its upgrades, the 2003 Savana is practically a new vehicle. However, there is no mistaking the 3500, as it continues to provide maximum transportation service with a healthy dose of comfort as well.
