2003 GMC Sierra 2500HD Crew Cab
The Sierra 2500HD crew cab is a full-size, heavy-duty
¾-ton pickup with four full doors. This results
in up to six-passenger seating and an even roomier interior
than the extended cab version, which also offers six-passenger
seating. With all sorts of space on top of the hard-working
capabilities of a massive pickup, the 2500HD crew cab
is extremely versatile.
Not surprisingly, the Sierra 2500HD crew cab is offered
in 2WD and 4WD configurations. A short 6.5-ft. bed and
a long 8.1-ft. bed complete the selection of 2500HD
sizes. In terms of standard equipment, there are two
models to choose from: a base SLE and uplevel SLT. Like
all 2500HD models, the crew cab also presents customers
with the convenient option of two available engine upgrades,
designed to meet any and all of the demands people can
think of.
Under the Hood
Like all 2500HDs, the standard engine on the crew cab
is a Vortec 6.0-liter/ 364-cu. inch V8 with 300 horsepower
at 4400rpm and 360lb-ft of torque at 4000rpm. 5-speed
manual transmission is standard, but 4-speed automatic,
5-speed automatic and 6-speed standard are all available.
Safety is just as thoroughly addressed as performance
with a power, HydroBoost brake apply system with four-wheel
disc, four-wheel antilock brakes. Also standard are
dual front airbags and the LATCH (Lower Anchors and
Tethers for Children) system for child seats.
One of the optional engines that customers can upgrade
to is a Vortec 8.1-liter/ 496-cu. inch V8 with 340 horsepower
at 4200rpm and 455lb-ft of torque at 3200rpm. The other
is a Duramax 6.6-liter/ 403-cu. inch diesel V8 with
300 horsepower at 3000rpm and 520lb-ft of torque at
1800rpm.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
All models in the 2500HD series come with redesigned
seats featuring new sew styles, sculpted contours and
a more tailored appearance. Thicker front-seat headrests
also improve comfort. Infotainment systems in the crew
cab provide Radio Data System (RDS) and XM Satellite
Radio (DAB in Canada) interface capability. RDS enables
the radio to receive and display text descriptions such
as read-outs for traffic and music type, while XM Satellite
Radio features 100 coast-to-coast digital channels.
The 2500HD crew cab offers an available rear seat DVD
entertainment system. This includes a 7-inch flip-down
screen, two wireless (infrared) headphones with independent
volume control, a wireless remote control and three
sets of auxiliary video and audio inputs.
Fifty years ago, they never would have imagined that
entertainment, comfort and power could all be integrated
into one vehicle. The 2003 GMC Sierra 2500HD Crew CabHD
crew cab would be a nice model to send back in time
just to show that it's been done.
