2003 GMC Sierra 3500 Crew Cab
The 2003 GMC Sierra 3500 crew cab has the added convenience
of four full doors, providing all six of its passengers
with easy entry and exiting. At a full one-ton, sporting
dual wheels and a standard 8.1-ft. long cargo bed, the
crew cab is large, roomy, practical and above all else,
powerful. You can't get much bigger than the Sierra
3500 crew cab - it is designed for owners who need the
most out of a pickup truck.
The 2003 Sierra 3500 crew cab is available in two-wheel
drive or four-wheel drive, in either a base SLE or uplevel
SLT model. For 2003 the crew cab shares the same improvements
that are standard across all heavy-duty Sierra models.
Not only has the interior been redesigned for greater
safety and comfort, the engines are cleaner and more
efficient, the front grille is upgraded and a more advanced
braking system has replaced the old one. In effect,
the heavy-duty Sierra line has been given a brand new
makeover. As part of this makeover, two engine upgrades
are available across all models, pushing the power capability
through the roof.
Under the Hood
The engine on 3500s is a tough Vortec 6.0-liter/ 364-cu.
inch V8 with 300 horsepower at 4400rpm and 360lb-ft
of torque at 4000rpm. 5-speed manual transmission is
standard, but 4-speed automatic, 5-speed automatic and
6-speed standard are all available. Safety is addressed
with a power, HydroBoost brake apply system with four-wheel
disc, four-wheel antilock brakes. Also standard are
dual front airbags and the LATCH (Lower Anchors and
Tethers for Children) system for child seats.
One of the two available engines customers can opt
to have with their 3500s is a Vortec 8.1-liter/ 496-cu.
inch V8 with 340 horsepower at 4200rpm and 455lb-ft
of torque at 3200rpm. The other is a Duramax 6.6-liter/
403-cu. inch diesel V8 with 300 horsepower at 3000rpm
and 520lb-ft of torque at 1800rpm.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
The SLE model comes with such standard features as
cargo box lights, floormats, roof marker lights, AM/FM
CD player, cruise control, remote keyless entry and
an overhead console. The SLT adds even more with deep-tinted
rear glass, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and front
seats with independently heated backs and cushions (three
temperature settings).
Exclusive to the crew cab is an optional rear seat
DVD entertainment system. It features a 7-inch flip-down
screen, two wireless (infrared) headphones with independent
volume control, a wireless remote control and three
sets of auxiliary video and audio inputs.
At the top of the heavy-duty full-size pickup line,
the 2003 Sierra 3500 crew cab rules over things quite
comfortably.
