2003 GMC Sonoma

The Sonoma is GMC's offering in the compact pickup class, and it has the type of precise handling and sporty styling that customers who like a little bit of flash in their trucks want. Of course, on the practical side of things, durability, safety and comfort are equally well represented. For 2003, new interior features and attractive pricing provide the Sonoma with even more Professional Grade capability, convenience and value than before.

The 2003 GMC Sonoma regular cab has two doors and seats two or three passengers (two with bucket seats). Rear, two-wheel drive is offered on the regular cab, and two bed sizes are available: a 6-ft. bed in either Wideside or flared-fender Sportside form and a 7.3-ft. long bed. The Sonoma regular cab comes in two models, SL and SLS. In addition, an engine upgrade is available for those people who want more juice in their truck.

Under the Hood

The standard engine with the GMC Sonoma is a Vortec 2.2-liter L4 with 120 horsepower. Models with short beds receive standard 5-speed manual transmission, while long beds have 4-speed automatic transmission (optional on short beds). GMC has equipped different size Sonomas with specifically tailored suspension systems. The short beds have Smooth Ride Suspension and the long beds come with Increased Capacity Suspension. All regular cabs have vacuum power, front disc/rear drum antilock brakes and dual front airbags.

The ability to add more power to the Sonoma regular cab is readily available. The engine owners can upgrade to is a Vortec 4.3-liter V6 with 180 horsepower.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

The SL model comes with such standard features as power steering, air conditioning, AM/FM radio, digital clock, tachometer and a black vinyl floor covering. The SLS adds deep-tinted glass, a tilt leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, an AM/FM/CD player, map lights, carpeting and more.

There are a number of options to choose from with the 2003 Sonoma regular cab, such as a 6-disc CD changer and the full range of GM Accessories. These include bed rails, hard and soft tonneau covers, a trailer hitch and a bed extender.

With comfort, performance and versatility, the 2003 Sonoma regular cab excels in a number of different areas.
