2003 GMC Yukon
For 2003, standard electronic throttle control and
new oxygen sensors for all Yukon engines improve drivability,
fuel economy and emissions. With the Yukon SUV line,
that means that a total of four engines have been upgraded
to become more environmentally friendly. What all models
also share is the ability to seat nine and a tested
engineering that just doesn't quit.
As an SUV with a 116-inch wheelbase, a healthy dose
of power and comfort and security features all accounted
for, the Yukon line has become the full-size SUV segment's
fastest growing vehicle family. 2003 sees nothing less
than the continuation of all the reasons behind this.
Under the Hood
The Yukon is given a standard 4.8-liter Vortec V8 engine
with 275 horsepower and 4-speed automatic transmission.
For added traction control, 2WD and 4WD configurations
are available. In addition to Yukon's sturdy construction,
four-wheel disc, four-wheel antilock brakes with dual
piston calipers and Dynamic Rear Proportioning help
to take care of security. Also provided in that vein
are a dual-stage, dual-level airbag system and the LATCH
(Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) system for
child seats. Smoothness describes the quality of the
ride resulting from independent front suspension with
torsion bars and 5-link coil spring rear suspension
with automatic load leveling.
If it's more power you want, it's more power you get.
An optional engine upgrade is available on 2003 Yukons,
hiking up the performance level of the SUV. The available
engine is a 5.3-liter Vortec V8 capable of 285 horsepower.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
The 2003 Yukon's highly refined interior includes a
redesigned instrument panel (IP) and cluster, with new
trim plates, new ISO symbols and LCD displays and a
new steering wheel. The list of standard features on
the Yukon is long and impressive. Just pulling a few
names out of the hat reveals GMC's commitment to comfort:
AM/FM CD/cassette player, tri-zone automatic climate
control, power steering, tilt leather-wrapped steering
wheel, cruise control and 6-way power front seats with
lumbar adjustment.
For entertainment, a DVD system is available, featuring
a 7-inch flip-down screen, two wireless (infrared) headphones,
a wireless remote control and three sets of auxiliary
video and audio inputs.
The name that started it all, the Yukon continues to
improve every year. 2003 sees no change in this policy
