2003 Hyundai Accent
The Hyundai Accent sedan has steadily increased its
sales ever since its introduction into the American
market. More and more customers are looking for an inexpensive
and hassle-free vehicle that gets the job done, day
in and day out. A more appropriate description of the
Accent would be hard to find. Simply put, the Accent
takes care of the transportation so you can worry about
the more pressing concerns of the day.
The four-door Accent is joined by a smaller three-door
hatchback model. Both seat five passengers, though the
four-door offers a bit more room inside its cabin. While
other manufacturers seem to have missed the notice that
the world is no longer fit for big gas-guzzling boats,
Hyundai is as modern as they come, offering a slew of
efficient models like the Accent.
Under the Hood
The four-door Accent features a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder
engine that gets up to speed with 105 horsepower. Two
separate transmissions are offered. One is a 5-speed
manual configuration that employs an advanced gearbox
to deliver maximum power to the wheels. The other is
a 4-speed automatic configuration that uses an improved
skip shift function for smooth acceleration. Mated to
the 1.6-liter engine, the 5-speed manual transmission
has a fuel rating of 27/37 mpg (city/hwy), while the
4-speed automatic gets 25/35 mpg (city/hwy).
The four-door Hyundai Accent boasts a 4-wheel independent
suspension system that results in a gentle ride. The
aerodynamics of the Accent have been altered to reduce
turbulence and wind noise, particularly at high speeds.
Side impact beams, a collapsible steering column, dual
front airbags and EPD brakes address safety.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
The four-door Accent is offered in a GL trim level
that includes an options list with added features. On
its own, the GL model comes with such standards as power
steering, remote fuel door, dual remote mirrors, 60/40
split-folding rear seats, an AM/FM cassette, air conditioning,
a digital clock, tinted glass and more.
The options list includes power mirrors, windows and
door locks and an AM/FM/CD player.
There is one thing you can guarantee with the four-door
Accent, and that is it will perform again and again
without breaking the bank.
