2003 Hyundai Santa Fe reviews and buying guide.

2003 Hyundai Santa Fe resources:

2003 Hyundai Santa Fe

The 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe is a compact sport utility vehicle from Hyundai, providing efficient performance features and plenty of room for cargo and passengers. Offered with two different powertrain configurations, the 2003 Santa Fe shares a Hyundai-typical price tag. It won't break the bank, but it will satisfy.

The four-door Santa Fe seats five passengers. It comes in three different trim levels: base, GLS and LX. The entry-level Base model has a healthy amount of standard features and options, while the top-line LX basically combines everything together in one impressive model.

Under the Hood

Base models are given a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 138 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 147 lb-ft of torque at 3000 rpm. This engine uses front-wheel drive and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive or an optional 4-speed automatic transmission. Optional on base models and standard on GLS and LX models is a 2.7-liter V6 engine with 173 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 182 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. 4-speed automatic transmission is standard with this engine, while 4WD is optional.

All models have a smooth ride as a result of front suspension featuring MacPherson strut with stabilizer bar, double wishbone rear suspension and hydraulic shock absorbers. 4-wheel disc brakes are standard on base and GLS models. Antilock brakes with traction control come standard with the LX model and are optional on other models.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

Entry-level Santa Fes have all the basics and then some. They come with rear privacy glass, roof rack side rails, an AM/FM/CD player with six speakers, air conditioning, power windows and door locks, heated power windows, a full spare tire and more. The GLS adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel, fog lights, a Monsoon AM/FM/cassette player with an in-dash 6-disc CD changer, remote keyless entry and others. At the top of the heap, the LX has all of this plus leather seating and heated front seats.

A Utility Package, available with base models, provides cruise control, rear wiper/washer, remote keyless entry with alarm, a cargo net and a first aid kit. On GLS and LX models, a power sliding glass sunroof is optional.

The 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe is new and improved and ready to roll.
