2003 Infiniti I35
The Infiniti I35 is back for its sophomore season,
and if it's anything like the first, it should be a
good year. The I35 burst on to the scene with a sure-footedness
and style that one would expect from a seasoned veteran
of the roadways and not from a first-time. This confidence
was born from I35's high-performance engine, its advanced
engineering and the unmistakable flavor of refinement
that permeates through it design.
The 2003 I35 continues what last year's model began,
rolling off the production line with enhancements ranging
from expanded wood tone trim on the center console to
satellite radio compatibility. The four-door Infiniti
I35 offers plenty of leg room up front and in the rear.
It is offered in a base model, with the attending options
list long, thorough and impressive.
Under the Hood
The I35's quickness and staying power is a result of
its advanced 3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 engine, which
produces 255 horsepower and 246 lb-ft of torque. It
features microfinished crank journals and cam lobes,
molybdenum coated lightweight pistons, Nissan Variable
Induction System (NVIS), digital knock control, six
individual coils (one per spark plug) and double platinum-tipped
spark plugs with a 100,000 mile tune-up interval. Not
too shabby at all.
4-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission
shifts the I35 between gears quietly and efficiently.
The I35 also provides a standard Traction Control System
(TCS), which is particularly useful in slippery situations.
For safety, dual front airbags and side airbags, front-seat
active head restraints, antilock 4-wheel disc brakes,
brake assist and an emergency inside trunk release are
all provided.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
The Infiniti I35's interior is refined and comfortable.
Lush leather upholstery lines the I35, creating a relaxed
atmosphere. Standard equipment includes a Bose 200-watt,
7-speaker premium audio system with AM/FM, in-dash 6-disc
CD autochanger, steering wheel audio controls, vehicle-speed-sensitive
volume control and Radio Data System (RDS) function.
The 2003 I35 offers a wide array of optional equipment
to spice things up. Particularly of note is the power-operated,
dash-mounted flip-up Infiniti Navigation System. It
includes a three-dimensional map display and voice guidance
system. Another feature, new for 2003, is the availability
of integrated satellite radio, with a choice of XM or
Sirius service providers.
Luxury and performance and style all merge into the
form of the 2003 Infiniti I35.
