2003 Jeep Liberty reviews and buying guide.

2003 Jeep Liberty resources:

2003 Jeep Liberty (Renegade Edition)

The Renegade edition of the Jeep Liberty owes it top-line status to the maximization of three key areas of SUV driving: off-road performance, interior luxury and style. Introduced as the 2002 model year came to a close, the adventurous Renegade wears a name that hints at the rebellious nature of its design. Pushing the standards of the Liberty past the limits of caution, the Renegade runs full-throttle over whatever terrain is laid at its feet.

The Renegade's style certainly distinguishes itself from other SUVs on the road. Combining an integrated activity light bar, unique roof basket, "bolt-on" wheel flares, removable side steps, unique wheels and a two-tone front fascia, the ultimate adventure package is realized.

Under the Hood

There is plenty of bite under the hood of the 2003 Renegade. With its 3.7-liter V6 engine, capable of 210 horsepower at 5200rpm and 235lb-ft of torque at 4000rpm, it has the type of pickup to power through snow, slime, mud and grime. 2WD and 4WD configurations are available, a feature not at all surprising given the Liberty's solid off-road construction.

The Renegade provides plenty of stability with coil spring independent front suspension and link-coil rear suspension. Smooth rack-and-pinion steering makes handling a breeze no matter the condition, while 4-wheel disc brakes and dual front airbags head the list of safety features.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

The Renegade's interior features front seats with a unique combination of flat woven cloth and leather. Genuine brushed aluminum highlights on the instrument panel add a modern, machined look to the interior, consistent with its exterior theme. New for 2003, the premium Renegade model features standard power leather seats, premium door trim panels and a new overhead vehicle information center with customer programmable features.

While most Renegade owners will be satisfied with the array of features that come standard with their vehicle, manufactures have certainly provided for those people who can never get enough. Everything from safety, performance and comfort can be upgraded.

The new Liberty has a unique two-faced look with its Renegade model. One side features the smooth tailoring of refinement, while the other is pure wild abandon.
