2003 Jeep Wrangler (Rubicon Edition)
The 2003 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon edition is made for
extreme off-roading. If this specialized vehicle can't
handle the terrain you're looking to conquer, chances
are you need a tank. One of the finest models in the
long tradition of Jeep Wrangler excellence, the Rubicon
is the culmination of extensive research and high-performance
engineering. With a heavy-duty construction, excellent
traction control and handling and a comprehensive safety
system, the Rubicon addresses all the right areas when
it comes to off-road adventures.
Under the Hood
The Rubicon comes equipped with a steady 4.0-liter
V6 with 190 horsepower at 4600rpm and 235lb-ft of torque
at 3200rpm. Jeep's Command-Trac 4WD system is standard,
giving the Wrangler superior traction control. Also
featured are locking front and rear differentials, front
and rear Dana model 44 axles and a 4:1 low-range transfer
case. These Tru-LokTM locking differentials use a dash-mounted
rocker switch, which allows the driver to lock the rear
axle and toggle the front axle locker on and off for
improved maneuvering. When engaged, this feature mechanically
locks the axle shafts together to drive all four wheels
at the same speed. When unlocked, the rear axle has
a torque-sensing limited-slip feature to provide better
traction and handling on-road.
The LT245/75R16 Goodyear Wrangler "Maximum Traction/Reinforced"
31-inch tires on the Rubicon are the biggest ones available
in the Wrangler factory. They feature a beefy tread
pattern that wraps around the sidewall to help grab
ledges along the trail. This state-of-the-art off-road
tire includes a three-ply sidewall and advanced silica
compound for excellent durability and puncture resistance.
New 16-inch, five-spoke aluminum wheels are designed
with a dished face to protect the wheel from off-road
obstacles.
In addition, next generation dual front airbags, 4-wheel
disc brakes, driver's side constant force retractor,
self-adjusting low-tension three-point belts and height-adjustable
shoulder belts are all standard on the Rubicon.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
Everything about the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is geared
towards maximum performance. The same is true of its
design. The Rubicon features unique exterior design
cues and will be available in all 10 Wrangler exterior
colors. To let the world know it's there, a "Rubicon"
graphic is prominently placed on each side of the hood.
Heavy gauge diamond plate sill guards are bolted to
the bodyside to protect rocker panels from damage in
off-road situations.
The standard soft top can be replaced with a hardtop.
Other options include an engine block heater, air conditioning,
cruise control, AM/FM CD player with an upgraded sound
system and a theft-deterrent system.
In terms of off-road vehicles, it doesn't get much
better than the 2003 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon edition.
