2003 Kia Sorento reviews and buying guide.

2003 Kia Sorento resources:

2003 Kia Sorento

The all-new Kia Sorento makes its debut for 2003 with an appealing, segment-breaking set of features and capabilities. This new 5-passenger SUV is priced to compete with compact SUVs but has the size, power, and type of construction typical of more-expensive midsize SUVs. Rugged on the outside and with a mind for off-road adventure, the Sorento also offers a distinctly calm interior designed for maximum comfort.

Not surprisingly, 2WD and 4WD configurations are available with the new 2003 Kia Sorento. There are two distinct trim levels offered: LX and EX. The Sorento style doesn’t neglect functionality either. In this vein, all Sorentos have 16-inch wheels, a rear liftgate with separate-opening window and a full-size spare tire.

Under the Hood

The Sorento has an attractive set of performance features resulting in exceptional versatility. Comfortable in the city and at home in the mud, the Sorento’s 192-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 engine happily powers through any terrain. 4-speed automatic transmission handles all of the shifting duties.

The new Sorento has a wide track stance for added stability. The part-time 4WD system includes a 2-speed transfer case and limited-slip differential. In terms of safety, the Sorento comes with dual front airbags, curtain side airbags for side-impact collisions and 4-wheel disc brakes.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

The Sorento has clear-lens headlights that project high-powered illumination to light up the darkest of paths. Entry-level LX models come with such standard features as cruise control, air conditioning, cloth upholstery, front bucket seats with driver-seat height and lumbar adjustment, heated power mirrors, power windows and door locks, an AM/FM/CD player, a digital clock, a tachometer, variable-intermittent wipers with de-icer and more. EX models add a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an 8-way power driver seat, remote keyless entry, a power sunroof, an AM/FM/cassette/CD player and additional gadgets such as a compass, an outside-temperature indicator, an altimeter and a barometer.

A luxury package with leather upholstery, heated front seats and an in-dash 6-disc CD changer tops the options list. Additional add-ons include antilock brakes and load-leveling rear suspension.

The new Kia Sorento is ready and waiting to impress.
