2003 Land Rover
Range Rover
Land Rover was making SUVs before they were called
SUVs. These were tough, capable trucks cherished for
their utility in adverse conditions in places all over
the world. Whether as a farmer who needed a 4x4 that
could make it down to the bottom of the field or as
a Safari truck for driving through the grasslands of
Kenya,
the Range Rover was acclaimed for its Tonka toughness.
The design of the 2003 Land Rover Range Rover is the
one that pursues that go anywhere/ do anything motto
as an absolute priority.
The result is a vehicle with Land Rover’s best all-terrain
technology, most powerful engine, biggest cargo compartment
and highest towing capacity. Meanwhile, convenience,
communications and entertainment technology is also
cutting edge and present in full measure.
The full-size Range Rover SUV comes in one model and
it has everything. The only factory-installed option
is the Heated Accessories Package that heats front
and rear seats, steering wheel, rear-seat ski hatch
and ski bag.
Under the Hood
The all-aluminum, 4.4-litre V8 engine manufactured
by BMW for the Range Rover is a free-revving, 32-valvepowerplant
that produces 282 hp at 5,400 rpm and 325 lbs-ft of
torque at 3,600 rpm, substantially more than V8 it replaces.
An advanced five-speed automatic transmission featuringCommandShift
control, allows manual up and down sequential shifting.
A two-speed, electronically activated transfer gearbox
has the ability to shift on the fly from Low to High
and High to Low.
However, the Range Rover’s superb on- and off-road
handling is its reason for being. Innovations include
fully independent air suspension, an electronic traction
control system that includes Dynamic Stability Control
(DSC), Land Rover–pioneered Hill Descent Control (HDC),
and finally, anti-lock brakes with an Emergency Brake
Assist (EBA) feature and ElectronicBrakeforce Distribution
(EBD).
A Lower Anchor and Tether for Children (Latch) system
and eight standard airbags contribute to the Land Rover’s
safety and control technology portfolio.
Standard Features, Options Packages

system, leather upholstery, power sunroof, power seats
