2003 Lexus LX 470 reviews and buying guide.

2003 Lexus LX 470 resources:

2003 Lexus LX 470

Lexus has two entries for 2003 in the full-size SUV segment, the luxury and the premium luxury edition LX 470. At the apex of the Lexus line, the LX 470 as much power as any Lexus vehicle and a level of luxury that matches that of the top-level luxury sedan.

Lexus LX 470 owners enjoy safari-proven off-road performance, a truly premium level of luxury, seating for up to eight people, a maximum cargo capacity of 90.4 cu. ft. and a beefy towing capacity yet it still manages to avoid the cumbersome awkwardness of some of the other full-size SUV segment entries.

Under the Hood

The most powerful engine in the Lexus stable is standard on the LX 470. A powerhouse 4.7-liter dohc V8, it produces a respectable 230hp and 320lb-ft of torque with 80% of its peak torque at available at 1100. Its power is available throughout the engine’s range and can propel this large vehicle to 60 mph in 10.1 seconds but it still has a generous 6500lbs of towing capacity. Despite this versatility of power management and ability, the LX 470 meets Low Emissions Vehicle certification requirements.

The LX 470 has a minimum ground clearance of 9.8 inches and the innovative Hydraulic Adjustable Height Control (AHC) system allows the driver to raise the vehicle for particularly rough off-road terrain, and to lower it for easy entry and exit. Current suspension height is indicated by a height control switch and light and the system is capable of recommending optimal height in response to changing road conditions.

In fact, the LX 470 has an extensive list of handling and performance innovation, demonstrating the peak of Lexus technology; active TRAC (traction control), Downhill Assist Control (DAC), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Vehicle Skid Control (VSC), Adaptive Variable Suspension damping to enhance towing performance and an anti-lock brake system (ABS) that features Brake Assist (BA) and Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD). Safety considerations have been addressed with equal intensity and comprehensiveness.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

The LX models from Lexus are all remarkable for the outstanding attention paid to interior amenities. Details, seldom existing on many more expensive cars even as options, are present on the LX models as standard equipment.

Automatic climate control, heated leather front seating and trim, rear DVD entertainment system, premium audio system with a six-disc in-dash CD changer, satellite navigation with LCD screen, integrated HomeLink® transmitter and a transponder anti-theft system mean all combine to make the Lexus LX 470 a truly premium luxury SUV. Add the extensive off-road capability and you can have your cake and eat it too.
