2003 Mercedes-Benz C300 reviews and buying guide.

2003 Mercedes-Benz C300 resources:

2003 Mercedes-Benz C300-Class

The 2003 Mercedes C300 series, includes the C320 Sedan, C320 Sport Wagon and the C32 AMG. These are the three higher powered members of the C-Class. They all have 3.2-liter engines, but while the two C320s have 215 hp and an equally beefy torque, the C32 AMG, has anintercooled and supercharged AMG-built engine with nearly twice as much power.

Regardless of the C-Class vehicle you choose, one thing is guaranteed and that is Mercedes-Benz carefully balanced blend of comfort, performance and safety. In terms of safety, the C-Class has both active and passive technologies, that is, devices that work to prevent accidents and devices that work to protect occupants when they do occur.

The C320 and C32 AMG Sedans are both full-size near-luxury 4-door sedans with comfortable seating for 5 adults. The C320 Sport Wagon, in contrast, is a family oriented wagon with the same room and comfort of the sedan up front but with the versatility afforded by 63.6 cubic feet of cargo carrying capacity, more than many competitors. The other important part of the Sport Wagon is the “Sport” part. This is a car that drives like its C320 sedan brother.

Under the Hood

The 3.2-liter 18-valve V6 engines that power the C320 Sedan and Sport Wagon models are capable of pumping out 215 hp at 5750 rpm and 221 lb-ft of torque between 3000 and 4800 rpm. Also compatible with Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel drive system, these twopowerplants are powerful, efficient and versatile. They come with a sophisticated 5-speed automatic transmission with two reverse gears and a winter mode feature for added maneuverability on takeoff in snow or ice.

The C32 is a different story. Hold on to your hats! Powering the top car in the C-Class, this AMG 3.2-liter engine puts out 349 hp at 6100rpm. It has a whopping 332lb-ft of torque at 4400 and it takes no prisoners: 0-60mph in 5.1 seconds. Touch Shift is an optional feature that allows the driver to manually shift by nudging the shift lever left or right from the Drive position.

All C-Class cars have antilock brakes with Brake Assist and the Electronic Stability Program antiskid/traction control system. Eight airbags include dual front, side impact and head protection systems.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

Standard fittings include cruise control, automatic climate control, heated power mirrors with turn signals, power windows and door locks, remote keyless entry using theSmartkey system, AM/FM/weatherband/cassette, trip computer, outside-temperature indicator, a universal garage-door opener and automatic headlights among other items.

Optional add-ons include details like the Motorola V60 hands-free phone and the "Distronic" radar system that maintains a constant distance with the car in front.
