2003 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class

The 2003 Mercedes CL Class Sport Coupes are at the peak of automotive luxury and performance, in general, and are top of the line for Mercedes Benz. This year they have been given substantially more power than ever before. If you’re looking to spend six figures on a car, the CL-Class Mercedes-Benz is in your ballpark.

There are three models in this class, the CL 500 Coupe, the CL 55 AMG and the CL 600 Coupe. The first, the CL 500, is the least powered despite a V8 with 302 hp and plenty of performance parts to go with it. The other two have nearly 500 hp! The CL 55 AMG has an AMG built V8 also but the CL 600 is running a twin-turbo V12 with 590lb-ft of torque. This is more power than the biggest heavy-duty 1-ton pick-up trucks

Under the Hood

These three 2-door Coupes are all about power and performance. The CL 5000 Coupe has a 5-liter V8 with 302 @ 5600 rpm and 339 ft-lbs @ 2700 rpm. It will do 0 to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds and at 60, will feel like 30mph as there is so little road noise.

The next level up is the CL 55 AMG. This car has a supercharged 5.4-liter\ 322-cubic inchohc V8 with nearly 500 hp! (493hp @ 6100 rpm to be precise.) This incredible power comes from the 516 ft-lbs of torque it produces at 2650 rpm. . Both models are equipped with 5-speed automatic transmission with manual shifting feature.

At the top of the list is the CL 600, the most powerful car Mercedes produces. This car is capable of unbelievable amounts of power. For example, it has a 36 valve 5.5-liter V12 engine capable of 493 hp at 5000rpm and an astonishing 590lb-ft of torque from 1800 to 3500 rpm.

Naturally, these unprecedented power levels need to be accompanied by state of the art control and safety technologies. In the CL classes, the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Active Body Control (ABC) combine with an extensive airbag system to give the ultimate in traction and lean controls while also protecting occupants.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

The features and options available for the CL-Class are, not surprisingly, luxurious. Interior amenities include just about anything you can think of to add to a car's interior. Highlights include 10-way power bucket seats, automatic climate control, navigation system, AM/FM/CD player with controls on the leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control with a "Distronic" radar system that maintains a constant distance between you and the car in front!), wood interior trim and leather upholstery.

Other offerings include the panorama glass roof, rear-obstacle detection, stereo upgrade, Xenon dual-beam headlights, "Keyless Go" and much more.
