2003 Nissan Murano reviews and buying guide.

2003 Nissan Murano resources:

2003 Nissan Murano

The 2003 Nissan Murano is a brand new crossover sport utility vehicle that aims to provide new levels of form and functionality. Named after the elegantly sculpted glass art that comes from the islands near Venice, the Murano has a flowing form that is a result of its front engine, front-drive (FF-L) platform, a system already used by the Altima. The FF-L platform pushes the wheels out to the corners, resulting in a long wheelbase and a wide stance for inherent handling and performance advantages, as well as packaging and styling flexibility.

With the performance of an SUV and the smooth handling of a sedan, the Murano is sure to attract a wide range of customers. Those people who enjoy innovative styling will certainly find it with the Murano as well. Taking the corner into the next phase of automotive engineering and design, the Murano will certainly stand out on the road.

Under the Hood

The new Nissan Murano is available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The engine that powers this refined machine is a 240-plus horsepower 3.5-liter DOHC V6, quiet in its operation and quick in its acceleration. The 2003 Murano also offers the first North American standard application of Nissan's advanced Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), which provides smooth, responsive pickup and virtually eliminates traditional shift shock.

The Murano has a 4-wheel independent suspension system to provide driver and passengers with a bump-free ride. Safety is thoroughly covered with dual stage supplemental front airbags with seatbelt buckle switches, front seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters, front seat side-impact supplemental airbags and side curtain supplemental airbags. Stopping is handled by 4-wheel vented disc brakes.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

The Murano's exterior has already been spoken for - now to the inside. The interior of the Murano is highly functional, as it comes with smartly designed storage systems that include a two-tiered lockable center console storage box and additional storage areas under the cargo floor. The instrument panel includes aluminum trim, an available 7-speaker Bose audio system and a standard information monitor, with HVAC, audio, trip control and (optional) navigation system controls integrated into its one-piece design.

Unique in its style and refinement, the new 2003 Nissan Murano is set to become a household name in the crossover SUV class.
