2003 Oldsmobile Aurora
The Oldsmobile Aurora wraps up all the attributes of
luxury in a stylish four-door sedan, omitting only the
luxury price. For this reason only, the Aurora has been
assigned the 'near-luxury' class. But that cannot overshadow
the power and performance that defines this flagship
model.
Heavy-duty acceleration and staying power are the result
of the V8 engine that drives the 2003 Oldsmobile Aurora.
In fact, two years before the production version of
the Aurora arrived, the Aurora V8 earned a place in
the record book when a slightly modified production
version of the engine broke 47 speed and endurance records
in Fort Stockton, Texas. In other words, it's safe to
say that the 2003 Aurora is equipped with strength.
Sadly, 2003 is the last year for the Aurora. To commemorate
this, the last 500 models that roll off the production
line will be offered as Aurora V8 Collector Editions.
These unique models will pay homage to the proud tradition
of Oldsmobile Auroras that is coming to a close.
Under the Hood
The V8 engine that makes the Aurora a top sprinter
in its class was completely redesigned for better fuel
economy, improved sound quality and lower emissions
in 2001. It produces 250 horsepower at 5600rpm and torque
tops out at 260lb-ft at 4400rpm, with 90 percent of
peak torque on the ground between 2300 and 5600rpm.
Aurora comes in front-wheel drive with 4-speed automatic
transmission. The exceptional handling of the Aurora
is due to its Precision Control System for traction
control, which helps drivers prevent loss of control
when encountering an unexpected road hazard.
Safety isn't overlooked in favor of performance, as
the Aurora provides standard antilock 4-wheel disc brakes
and dual front and side-impact airbags.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
There is indeed plenty of luxury with the 2003 Oldsmobile
Aurora. Standard features include leather upholstery,
front bucket seats, 8-way power driver seat with power
lumbar adjustment, dual-zone automatic climate control,
8-way power passenger seat, AM/FM/cassette/CD player
and trip computer.
The Aurora V8 Collector Edition is equipped with distinct
embroidery, wheels, ornamentation, color and badging
and a special Collector Edition certificate for the
owner. For fans of the Aurora, the Collector Edition
is a must have.
The manufacturers of the Oldsmobile Aurora wanted to
celebrate the end of the line with a bang, and they've
certainly done that with the 2003 model.
