2003 Pontiac Grand Prix
With three powerful V6 engines to choose from, the
2003 Pontiac Grand Prix certainly lives up to its name.
Each of the three Grand Prix models, SE, GT and GTS,
are given different V6 configurations that offer the
right amount of performance to fit their specifications.
Naturally, the top-line GTS boasts the biggest, strongest
engine, but by no means are the other two slouches.
In order to tame all that high-octane engine power,
the Grand Prix is equipped with a precision handling
system, which is further complimented by smooth suspension.
With five-passenger seating, loads of comfort, and the
type of performance not usually seen in a car of its
class, the Grand Prix epitomizes what is known as Pontiac
Driving Excitement.
Under the Hood
Under the hood is where the Grand Prix really impresses.
All models are front-wheel drive and have 4-speed automatic
transmission. The base SE has a 3.1-liter V6 engine
with 175 horsepower at 5200rpm and 195lb-ft of torque
at 4000rpm. The uplevel GT provides a 3.8-liter V6 with
200 horsepower at 5200rpm and 225lb-ft of torque at
4000rpm, while the GTS features a supercharged 3.8-liter
V6 with 240 horsepower at 5200rpm and 280lb-ft of torque
at 3600rpm. The SE and GT models come with enhanced
traction control and low friction rack-and-pinion steering.
GTS does them one better with full traction control
and sport suspension.
Performance is not the only highlight of the 2003 Pontiac
Grand Prix. For safety, the SE and GT come with dual
front airbags and power-assisted vented front disc and
solid rear disc brakes. GTS offers antilock brakes.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
Because driving excitement also refers to interior
comfort, the Grand Prix is filled with standard features.
The base SE comes with all the essentials, including
air conditioning, rear seat pass-through and AM/FM CD
player. GT adds a trunk storage net, a 6-way power driver
seat and steering-wheel radio controls, while GTS again
goes one step further with a trip computer, driver-seat
4-way power lumbar adjustment, head-up instrument display
and leather-wrapped steering wheel.
A new Limited Edition special package is available
on 2003 GT and GTS models. It includes a unique spoiler,
special wheels (chrome multi-spoke with Limited Edition
center cap), blue fog lamps, a monotone lower fascia,
unique badges, white gauges, unique seats with door
inserts, leather bolsters and cloth inserts with blue
stitching. The Limited Edition is available in a white,
blue or silver exterior.
Of course, there are many other options packages and
upgrades that are available for 2003. Add them to the
performance and style of the Grand Prix, and you've
got yourself one nice car.
