Pontiac Sunfire resources:
2003 Pontiac Sunfire
For 2003, the Pontiac Sunfire drops its sedan and focuses
completely on the two-door coupe. With all this attention,
the coupe is given a number of improvements for 2003,
including a stylishly aerodynamic appearance, more standard
equipment and more standard power and torque. Fashioning
itself for fast-paced customers, the Sunfire has all
the style and performance, plus the comfort and dependability
that any owner would love to have.
The Sunfire is offered in a base model with three different
options groups: 1SA, 1SB and 1SC. As one would expect,
the top-line 1SC provides a wealth of features. What
all models share are the upgrades that improve upon
a vehicle that was already quite impressive to begin
with. For owners who like to go the extra distance,
a number of additional options are available as well.
Under the Hood
The 2003 Pontiac Sunfire has a new engine that provides
plenty of jump. A 2.2-liter L4 with 140 horsepower,
it gives the Sunfire the type of kick to get out of
the gate quickly. The 1SA model comes with 5-speed manual
transmission, while 4-speed automatic is standard on
both the 1SB and 1SC models (5-speed manual optional).
Fuel economy is part of the value, with manual transmission
models boasting 24/33 mpg (city/highway) and automatics
having 23/32 mpg.
Dual front airbags are standard across all models.
1SA and 1SB models have front vented disc, rear power-assisted
drum brakes. The 1SC model provides antilock brakes
(optional on 1SB), traction control and a performance-driven
sport suspension system.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
As most Sunfire owners are young, active, and on-the-go,
the five-passenger 2003 coupe addresses their needs
with a 60/40 split-fold rear seat. With it, Sunfire
owners have more cargo-carrying flexibility and seating
options. New interior fabric helps complete Sunfire's
sporty new look, with a bold graphics splash across
either Graphite or Taupe cloth seats. To extend the
Pontiac brand heritage, Sunfire now features a redesigned
instrument panel with round air outlets. Starting with
the 1SA and moving up to the 1SC model, the Sunfire
addresses all the other basics and then some.
When it comes to audio systems, the Sunfire has it
covered. Available with either the 1SB or 1SC is a 200-watt,
eight-speaker Monsoon system, which has been tailored
specifically to this vehicle's acoustical environment.
XM Satellite Radio is an option on all models, featuring
100 coast-to-coast digital channels.
A sporty style, plenty of performance and comfort and
a number of options to spice things up are all part
of the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire package.
