2003 Saab 9-5
Elegant Swedish design features give the Saab 9-5 a
unique mark of refinement as it glides down the road.
The 9-5's smooth functioning is a result of advanced
engineering practices, a tradition that has defined
Saab for years. The 2003 entry continues in this vein,
as driver responsiveness is enhanced with the electronic
stability program (ESP) and a new Sentronic system,
which allows manual selection of the gears with steering-wheel-mounted
controls.
The Saab 9-5 is a four-door, five-passenger luxury
car offered in sedan and wagon body styles. In other
words, there is no holding back on the features with
respect to all phases of driver satisfaction, including
performance, safety and comfort. Three 9-5 models are
offered for 2003: Linear, Arc and Aero.
Under the Hood
Each trim level is given a specific engine to communicate
an individual personality. The Linear model epitomizes
grace and features a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder 185-horsepower
light-pressure turbo engine. Arc has more of a sports
touring role, with a 200-horsepower 3.0-liter asymmetrically
turbocharged V6 engine. Finally, Aero is designed as
the ultimate performance derivative, with 17-inch wheels,
sport-tuned chassis and a 2.3-liter, High-Output Turbo
(HOT) engine.
Linear and Aero models have standard 5-speed manual
transmission, while the Arc offers 5-speed automatic
(optional with Linears and Aeros). With automatic transmission,
the aforementioned Sentronic system is offered. Safety
is covered with dual front airbags, front side airbags,
front seat active head restraints, antilock 4-wheel
disc brakes and an antiskid system.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
Luxury means refinement and exceptional comfort, and
the term applies to all models. The base Linear is equipped
with such standards as air conditioning with dual-zone
automatic climate controls, the OnStar System, a tilt/telescoping
leather-wrapped steering wheel with radio controls,
cruise control, leather upholstery, heated power front
bucket seats, power sunroof and an AM/FM/cassette/CD
player. The Arc has ventilated leather seats, additional
comfort features and a Harmon/Kardon sound system. The
Aero has everything the Arc does, without the touring
ventilated seats.
A luxury car with precision engineering and a classy
style, the 9-5 is a must have for customers who enjoy
refinement in a high-performance vehicle.
