2003 Toyota Sequoia
The 2003 Sequoia is Toyotas largest SUV. It seats
eight adult passengers in spacious comfort, yet is based
on the design of the Tundra pick-up, resulting in extensive
rugged and versatile off-road capabilities. The 2003
Toyota Sequoia has a number of enhancements on last
years model, offering more amenities and mechanical
refinements.
For example, this SUV was designed to be the ultimate
adventurous family travel vehicle; a factory-installed
DVD rear seat entertainment system with a high resolution
screen that flips down from the headliner and rear-seat
audio, allowing your children to watch a movie in the
back while mum and dad listen to tunes on the 10-speaker
JBL audio system.
This superior attention to detail and quality extends
through the rest of the interior and to safety, engine
performance, handling capability and styling, in general.
This is true whether you choose the Sequoia SR5 or the
Sequoia Limited.
Under the Hood
Significant changes have been made to the 2003 version
of this fine full-size SUV. For example, a Brake Assist
safety feature is newly standard while hydraulic rear
ride height control suspension is now available. 17-inch
wheels and 265/65R17 tires are now standard-equipment
on the Limited Sequoia, and are available on the SR5
grade as an add-on. The seven-pin towing connector,
which includes the ability to accommodate electric trailer
braking systems, is also now available.
Both grades of Sequoia are powered by a beefy 4.7-liter
240-hp i-Force dohc V8 engine. It produces 315 lb.-ft.
of peak torque and is well matched to a smooth-shifting
four-speed electronic automatic transmission that can
be teamed with either rear-wheel drive or multi-mode
four-wheel drive power. A locking center differential
can help get the vehicle through obstructions such as
sand, mud or deep snow and 10.6-inches of ground clearance
mean the Sequoia can handle off-highway obstacles that
would stop some competitors in their tracks.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
The Sequoia is a big vehicle and has lots of room for
interior amenities, the list of which could fill another
couple of pages. However, highlights of the difference
between the SR5 and the Limited grades include such
things automatic climate control, which is included
on the SR5 with cruise control, captain chairs, fully
adjustable seats for a diversity of cargo carrying configurations,
power everything and much more.
The Limited adds big ticket enhancements like leather
upholstery, heated front seats, power adjustable seats,
front and rear automatic climate controls, rear air
conditioning, heated, power fold-in mirrors, JBL audio
system and options like satellite Navigation and DVD
entertainment.
