2003 VW Jetta Wagon resources:

2003 VW Jetta Wagon

The Jetta wagon is an extension of the well-rounded Jetta sedan, offering the same level of performance and comfort with the additional space of a wagon body style. Perfect for new families who need a safe and dependable vehicle that also mixes in a nice blend of power and style, the Jetta wagon is every bit a VW. That means it comes from a family that is renowned for producing high-quality vehicles.

The four-door Jetta wagon has a total cargo volume of 70.6 cubic feet, something families will always find a way to make use of. Like the sedan, the Jetta wagon is offered in a wide variety of models. Three engines are spread over the lineup. There are GL and GLS trims with each of three, resulting in a total of six different configurations from which to choose.

Under the Hood

The first of the three engines available with the 2003 Jetta wagon is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder model. It is capable of 115 horsepower and 122 lb-ft of torque. The second engine is a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder motor with 180 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. Jetta wagon TDI models are specially designed for maximum efficiency. They are equipped with 1.9-liter, in-line, turbo-charged direct injection 4-cylinder diesel engine, generating 90 horsepower and 149 lb-ft of torque. The result of this engine sees TDI models providing a fuel economy of 42/49 mpg (city/hwy) for manuals, 34/45 mpg (city/hwy) for automatics

5-speed manual transmission is standard on all Jetta wagon models, though 4-speed automatic and 5-speed manual withTiptronic are available. The Jetta wagon is neither bumpy nor jerky, with independent suspension and power assisted rack-and-pinion steering, respectively. To ensure driver and passenger safety, dual front airbags, front side airbags, curtain side airbags and antilock 4-wheel disc brakes are standard.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

Child safety locks on the rear doors and child seat tether anchorage points in rear seating positions are features that will give parents of young children peace of mind. All Jetta wagon models feature an interior with standard air conditioning, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, height-adjustable front bucket seats, center console, cupholders, heated power mirrors, power windows and door locks, remote keyless entry, AM/FM/cassette/CD player, digital clock, map lights, illuminated visor mirrors, rear defogger and more.

Listening pleasure is just one of the targets of the options list. Owners can add a 6-disc CD changer and a Monsoon Sound System with eight speakers to achieve concert-quality sound. Other options address performance, comfort and safety – everything a family needs.
