2003 Volkswagen Eurovan reviews and buying guide.

2003 Volkswagen Eurovan resources:

2003 Volkswagen Eurovan

Whether it’s everyday people moving or extensive camping trips, there’s a Eurovan model that can handle the job. This versatile minivan is offered in a standard configuration (GLS) and a recreation-oriented MV (MultiVan) model, plus a long-wheelbase Camper conversion with stove, sink, furnace and refrigerator. The Camper is available only by special order, and continues in the long tradition of adventure-seeking Volkswagen vans.

The GLS and MV trim levels of the 2003 Volkswagen Eurovan seat seven with a folding third-row bench and twin second-row seats (rear-facing on MV). Living up to its multi-purpose billing, the MV trim also offers a "pop-top" roof incorporating a 2-person bed.

Under the Hood

Though the Eurovan has many different configurations, it delivers the same steady performance throughout. Its engine is a 2.8-liter V6 that pumps out 201 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. The Eurovan uses an adaptive 4-speed automatic transmission with automatic shift lock to stay in gear.

To maintain a steady footing, the Eurovan provides ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) and ESP (Electronic Stabilization Program), as well as EDL (Electronic Differential Lock). In other words, it handles very well for a minivan. Along with its advanced antiskid system, the Eurovan further tackles safety with dual front airbags and antilock 4-wheel disc brakes.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

While the Camper is a special model whose name essentially covers the focus of its capabilities, the GLS and MV both act as comfortable and dependable minivans with a thorough list of standard features. Among these are front and rear air conditioning with dual-zone automatic climate controls, cruise control, cloth upholstery, front bucket seats, center console, cupholders, heated power mirrors, power windows and door locks, remote keyless entry, AM/FM/cassette, digital clock, tachometer, variable-intermittent wipers, map light and more.

A power sunroof is available as an option with GLS and MV models, as are heated front seats. With a Weekender Package, the MV adds a refrigerator to the pop-up roof already mentioned, plus a number of other camping features, to make any trip a breeze.

You’d certainly be hard pressed to find a minivan with more versatility than the 2003 Volkswagen Eurovan. And that is always a good thing.
